so i had nero to burn my svcd. they worked great. now there is some problem burning with nero. after it encodes all the video, it then asks me to save an image file for some reason. i hit ok and save and it says it completes the process. but when i check the cd afterwards, there is nothing on it.
    any ideas?

i am then thinking of using easy cd creator 5. will this program create svcd's?

thanks for the input in advace!

For the sake of the Video Quality Gods, please don't use Nero to encode your videos. Do it the proper way -- with TMPGEnc or CCE and burn the readily-encoded files to CD after that.

Nero's quality simply sucks when compared to TMPGEnc's 2-pass or CCE's results.

For DVD -> SVCD encoding, check out our guides.

well i don't think its the problem with the encoding. the files are already in the right format, my nero program just isn't burning correctly or something. i downloaded the TMPGEnc and am now re-encoding my videos but i don't think it will make a difference when i actually start burning.
i'll do a test for sure.
    thanks!

Ah, ok. If they're in correct format already, check out the SVCD burning guide from our article section for Nero, you might have selected something incorrectly.

well, i used to be able to burn with nero. i downloaded the mpeg2 codec plugin, installed it, took awhile to work but finally it did. then, i had to reinstall nero again because it wouldn't burn audio cd's. now it won't burn either. i didn't check or uncheck any new options. maybe my version of nero is screwed up. i think i'm just going to have to play around with it.
do you know if easy cd creator will burn video though?

If you had to install a plugin, it meant that Nero re-encoded the SVCD, which it SHOULD NEVER DO, since the quality will drop dramatically.

Look at the guide, please :)

you said your burner isnt burning audio cd's now is it burning data cds at all...hum?
I have seen a similar problem before where the persons cd burner went out on him. When he was trying to burn it only wanted to make an image file, becuase the burner was malfuntioning and nero didnt detect it.

well, i just did a test. i'm running xp and i just used the burning feature to burn a data cd. it worked. i tried burning the same data through nero before and it said it completed the process but there was nothing there.
i have uninstalled/reinstalled nero a few times now.
any other suggestions why nero won't freak'n work??
all i want to do is be able to create svcds again. are there any other programs that will do what nero does?
    thanks again!!

You followed the guide and Nero didn't complain about any compatibility issues with the videos you dropped into it?

i tried some files that i have burned before just to make sure it was nero and not my files.
i have to burn on to cdrw's because that is what my dvd player will play svcd's on.
i installed easy cd creator and am going to try and see if that works.
