Ok lets see if I can explain my problem right I`ve got 2 pcs of which 1 of them is getting the BSOD #1 pc so I thought I would swap the harddrive from the #1 one over to the other #2. But when I tried this the #2 pc just keeps restarting at the bootup,I tried going into the BIOS and changing back to the default settings but its still the same The #pcs is ok with its own harddrive in. has any1 got any help Thanks
Yes you cant swap drives from one to the other without wiping and reinstalling windows unless they are both exactly the same specs and same comp.
they have to be the same pc?or different for each other?i tried it a couple of times always had to reformat and reinstall
Just 1 more question. So does that mean if I change my motherboard pcu and the ram will I have to reinstall windows?
no for ram & psu. windows allows about 10% configuration change before it requires to be reactivated. i usually go into safemode to pull old drivers out so windows can load or ask for drivers.
Just thought I would let you know That I managed to swap the hard drives over by using the Windows XP Repair option Had to reinstall SP2 and update windows but I didn`t lose any programs Thanks for the help
