Hello... I'm new to the forum here. Looking for some quick advice. My PS2 currently has an old old modchip installed (one of the first ones made for a PS2 that uses the gameshark swap trick while holding the reset button). Now, I'm wanting to backup my DVD games and use them, however, this chip does not work with DVD backups. So I'm looking for the best alternative. I'm not looking for a chip to sodder since I already have an old one soddered in the unit. How well does SM3.6 work? Do you think this is my best alternative given the situation? Thanks. Again, not looking to sodder another chip in, was painful enough the first time!
no your on the right track, just get swap magic and you can boot your dvd game backups using your no-solder modchip the way it is. just go to this link below and scroll to the bottom for simple instructions. (R-Modchip) http://www.consolesource.com/files/related_documentation/PSOENOSLD4_nosolder4_instructions.pdf Otherwise if you are talking about the Neo 4.1 modchip (the chip had 44 points depending on model) try this: turn off machine turn on without a disc in the PS2 press x to go into browser eject tray insert original dvd game press and hold eject to close tray wait for gold disc to appear when you see gold disc let go of eject button and tray should open swap in your DVD-R (6 seconds aprox) tray will go back in automatically wait for disc to spin or just wait for 5 seconds press x and the game should load (sometimes hold X) the neo 4.1 chip should boot dvd game backups and that is one of the oldest solder modchips for the ps2. if you could tell me what chip you accually have solder/no-solder in your ps2 already that would help. http://kowboy1.bananaman.com/1tronic/ps2compchart.htm http://www.cyber-mag.com/station/charts.htm
