After ordering Swap Magic CD, I've been playing all my DVD backups just fine. It wasn't just now that I realised that the CD version won't work. After using the CD version on my V12 ps2, it takes a while for the Sony Computer Entertainment logo to go away. Then, the CD spins double the speed it should be spinning. The PlayStation logo is then all garbled up, like when my sister tried stopping the disk from spinning (which is an entirely different story). I immediately shut off the PS2, being afraid of (a) the laser burning out (which is very likely on a V12 PS2), and (b) the whole system just getting messed up.

I really need to use some homebrew software like the DNAS tool (for online play) and the BIOS tool (for emulation), but they require a CD. Should I just let the system go wacko when using the CD disk, oe should I order a new Swap Magic?

Oh, and I heard somewhere that Swap Magic 3.3 isn't compatible with homebrew, only 3.6 is. Is that true? I'm using 3.3.

You know how the disk starts speeding up after the Sony Computer Entertainment logo? Well, mine didn't just speed up, it REALLY SPED UP!!! Funny the way this doesn't happen with my PS2 game, and the original disk The Sims (a CD) works perfectly also. I broke my other PS2 just taking it apart (I'm really clumsy), so with my new PS2, I didn't take that apart at all. Why do you think I got Swap Magic in the first place?

Another strange thing is that the Swap Magic DVD version is very scratched up, and it has one big, deep cut on the edge of it, and it plays perfectly. The CD version has exactly no scratches, no fingerprints, and doesn't work. Wierd, huh?

Hmm, get a refund or replacement, scratches on the disks just isn't right.

Um...one problem...I haven't been using my PS2 for a LONG time. I got Swap Magic many months ago. I don't think mod-chip.com or swpamagic3.com will let me replace it now. Besides, I think I should just get Swap Magic 3.6 anyways. Oh well.

Actually, I meant to say that I made the scratches on the DVD version. The CD version does not have any scratches at all, and it doesn't even work.

I had the same problem!! Use CDLoader after using the swap magic
CD-R. I had to try it several times to get it to work, but thats because I am using a fliptop. I notice I must swap the discs in very softly using a fliptop. But anyhow hope you get it going and install the memory card exploit and get cogswap so you don't need swap magic anymore!!
