Hey guys. My Grampa pulled a fast one on me and had a computer configured for me as a (belated) birthday present. I can't freakin' believe this!!!

    Athlon 64 X2 3800+
    2GB Crucial Ballistix DDR400 PC3200
    Sapphire Radeon X850XT 256MB GDDR3
    X-Fi Xtreme Music
    250GB 7200RPM WD Caviar SE SATA 3.0GB/s
    HIPRO HP-P500W ATX V2.01 500W Power Supply
Raidmax Elite Gray case(simple and sexy!)

I put all this in my old case for the one in my sig. It's gonna be freakin' awesome at LAN parties when they see my case and laugh. I'll just decimate them and leave them wimpering like little babies in my wake of destruction!!!

I put my old compy in a generic crappo case I found at the local PC shop.

I now have two excellent gaming compies with which to rule my world empire. I think I'll start with Canada and then... Kenya I guess...

Really, really nice. Fantastic cpu. What is your motherboard?

And I don't want to rain on your party but Crucial Ballistix in their gig sticks, both PC 3200 and PC 4000, were consistently dying. So much so that they pulled all their gig sticks off the market though their 512 sticks are quite good. I have 2 gigs of the Ballistix in a 4x512 configuration. So watch your RAM in the days to come. It is a shame, too, because Crucial makes some awesome RAM and they truly are one of the leading memory makers in the world (and the only one headquarterd in the U.S.).

You have a great Grampa there. If you think you got joy in receiving it imagine the joy he received at giving it to you.

It's an ECS RS480-M... should put that in my sig... It ain't the best but it works well enough for me. I now can finally play Oblivion on settings over low/medium. It's medium/high for me now. I don't mind not having HDR because of my X8xx series GPU. It's a 6800Ultra for roughly a third of the price. Bloom lighting is fine for me.

Also, yeah... I noticed the pattern with Crucial. I am keeping an eye on 'em. They passed in memtest. I only heard about that problem with Crucial from my dad last night when he was reading a Magazine and found an article.

And I yoinked the old case and PSU from my Sempy and used em again. The Enermax 420W is more than enough for my Sempron, OC'ed or not. It was just Configured on newegg and he let me fine-tune it and order.

My G'pa is awesome. He went out of his way and spent 1500+ dollars just for my birthday. I could never thank him enough!!!

Estuansis, if you can, please find out from your dad what magazine he read that article about Crucial Ballistix as well as the year and volume or month/date of said magazine. I would much appreciate it. Thanks.

It was CPU magazine. Not sure what year/date. Probably around February. Anyway, the memory's holding out fine.
