Vista uses a different bootloader which modifys the MBR. If you remove vista you will have to do a reformat to delete all traces of vista. But first you need to make sure that your motherboard/video card has the drivers to run XP. One thing you can do is use the free program "virtualbox" and install that in "Vista" from there you can load XP into the virtualbox. This way you can see how it will run on your hardware. Some people actually run XP from a virtualbox only when they need it for particular programs. You can also create a dual-boot, running vista and xp on the same hard drive. during bootup you get an option to pick which OS to use. Before you make any changes, you might want to use the free "macrium reflect" to backup your "Vista" partition and save it on external drive. That way you can always restore Vista if XP doesn't workout. http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.asp dualboot http://www.pro-networks.org/forum/about88231.html http://www.pro-networks.org/forum/about92429.html how to remove vista http://www.pro-networks.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=74987 remove vista bootloader http://vista-uninstall-bootloader.freeware-alternative.uni.cc/
We have the Vista factory DVD we got from emachine. It doesn`t support our printer or camera and we are more used to XP Home.. I had purchased another emachine a while back and have the XP DVD and gave it to my mother .. Thanks for taking the time to converse with me..
