I've gotten no responses in the HTPC section so forgive me if this is not where this belongs.

I have a new dell quad-core with a GeForce 8600 GT graphics card I use daily for work, pc games, xbox 360, and HDTV. My current setup is to a 22" westinghouse monitor via DVI cable with a resolution of 1680x1050. It looks very crisp.

My problem is I just purchased a new 26" westinghouse TV (though I have not received it yet) with a native resolution of 1366x768. You may already know that is a 16x9 format which I love (for movies). So, the resolution is obviously lower than the 22" monitor...is this an issue? Will this look different? I won't be happy unless the image is just as crisp as the 22" monitor. Do I cancel my order now? :\

On a side note, the 26" westinghouse tv does not accept DVI, but it has 2 HDMI ports. I read somewhere else that DVI to HDMI is no problem - no degredation of quality (however the opposite is not true). I would like it if someone would confirm that for me.

Thanks much for reading and *hopefully* you'll have an answer for me :)

I don't think you will notice a huge difference since it's such a small screen.

There should be no issues using the DVI to HDMI cable.

Agree, i have the 24" version and it support 1080p. I'm surprised the 26" only supports 720p. It won't make much difference on a monitor that size though, i can't tell the difference on my 40" lcd's either, that's a nice choice in monitors by the way. Westinghouse gives you alot of bang for your buck if you ask me..

In choosing a PC monitor / HDTV combination I would say one of the most problematic bug bears is if the PC monitor is not widescreen format.
That would mean you need to set different resolutions for each and use a Dual-view mode which in many ways is not as convienient as clone mode, but of course in clone mode both resolutions will have to be the same.
I would love a monitor that can display 1920 x 1080i to match my LCD for Bluray playback but i'm skint.
