    Hi,

I've got two VIP 211 HD receivers from dishnetwork, one upstairs and one downstairs in my home.. The reciever downstairs is constantly giving me a check switch error when I change channels and it only locks to satellite 110, satellites 119 and 129 aren't functioning properly?? Here's the kicker, my receiver upstairs "VIP 211" recognizes all three satellites and locks to all three... I've done the check switch test from the system setup point Dish menu and everytime one satellite shows up, DishNetwork keeps telling me that the box is bad which is bullcrap. I told them that both boxes work perfect upstairs and that the switch in my living room is screwed up.. What are my other options, it's too easy for me to get a tech to come out to my house, I'm too hard headed for that....LOL

This is just a guess, but the distance between the receiver and the switch may be the problem. Is the switch closer to the receiver that works than it is to the one that doesn't? Can you get the sats to switch by turning the power off and on? If that works then its usually the distance causing the probelm.

Thanks for your reply Jerry, looks like I figured out what the problem was.. All four switches on the switchbox were cooked, apparently it was a lightning strike but I'm not sure.. I just replaced the switch box and put a new connector on the cable and now everything is back to normal, knock on wood! When I run a check switch test all three satellites passed the test.. Thanks for your advice Jerry, I'll keep that in mind if something like this ever happens again.

Glad you got it fixed. If it was a lightning strike, you're lucky it didn't take out the receivers too.
