thanks very much for your help, unfortunately i've tried that, ON is permantly on the lcd display, i've tried a factory reset to no avail, i've also tried the steps you've given me, anyway look i'm very grateful for your input, i'll keep checking this forum periodicly in the hope that you or someone else might have any ideas, thanks again. qaz23.
