I'm having some problems with sync issues after downloading and converting some of my movies. The movie is perfectly in sync before I use winAvi to convert it into an mpeg-2 to use it with DVDlab pro and create menu's for it. The problem is, once everything is created and I view the movie on my TV, the audio tends to be out of sync by a half second towards the last 10 minutes of the show. Also, on other movies I've found that it looks choppy, almost as if everything is in slow motion but it isnt. Is this just the bitrate or something else? Thanks in advance.
try vso divxtodvd i think you can still get it at afterdawn software section if not google it . use this app to do all your conversions . if there is still probs with the audio there is another app called avisynth i think that may assist you in trying to alaign the audio properly. another idea is to just go out and buy a tvtop unit . they are cheap enough to buy these days start out at around 50.00 u.s.then just burn your downloads as data disc to cd or dvd then no more conversion. i use the divx encoder made by divx networks to reencode movies that the audio is way off or chopy and this app fixes them everytime perfect and it usauly takes a hour or less for 700megs. it will also convert any format over to mpeg 4 for veiwing in your divx player. i have had great luck with this method and i very rarely have to fix or convert any of the downloads . just a quick data burn and then play. its that simple for me.

You also mentioned that "I will also convert any format over to mpeg 4 for veiwing in your DivX player".....Is this a second method? how is a DivX player different than a regular TV top player?? You also mention "downloads as data disc"....please explain all of these later things thanks for your kindness to an old man (73) who's trying hard to use my mind on challenging things....tom here.....cheers and the best to you...
you can go to your local wallmart or whatever electronic store you like and buy a dvd player that hooks up to your tv that has the capabilitys to play most of your downloaded movies without having to use any conversion software what so ever. what you would do is once the movie is done downloading , open up your dvd or cd burning application like nero clonecd roxio what ever you have that can burn a data disc . once you have the application opened ,select burn a data cd if the movie is smaller than 700 megabit or select dvd data disc if the movie is larger than 700 megabit , then open the folder that contains the movies and drag them over to your burning program window and then try to figure out how to select your burning speed and set it to 4x for dvd or the lowest setting for cd's , then tick the burn button . let it run and when it completes take the newely burnt disc over to your newely purchased dvd player put it in and hit play and enjoy the flic on your tv not the computer screen. when you go and buy this dvd player make sure it has the divx logo on the machine or that it says on the box somewhere that it supports divx . most of the movies are in this format so conversion will be no longer needed. burn the movies as data disc and thats it . now some of the movies are in other formats that can not be played unless converted. i suggest using a program called divx converter ,it can be downloaded for free and you can use it free of charge for 30 days aprox. for those movies that will not play in your new dvd player , open the divx converter program and drag those movies over in the converter and tick convert , and within about 1 hr or so the movie will be in divx format and is ready to burn as a data disc . remember to delete the origanel file as it is no longer needed because you converted it over to divx . divx is mpeg 4 and 5 , i no that most of your movie downloads are recognized as avi by your operating system , but they really are divx files . the files that say mpg in the file name are all set to burn as data disc to , and those movies that are in mpg format wil play in any dvd player with or without the divx codec. the only reason i use the divx converter is to repaire movies that the audio is off or choppy or to convert other formats to the true mpeg 4 format so that it can be viewed with your divx player. dont confuse divx player with the player you have installed on your computer, i am speaking of a tv top player like the ones that you currently watch your dvd's with , except the new player will support watching your downloaded movies. if you do not want to purchase a seperate divx player , which is the best way to go and can be bought for about 50.00 , then use the divx to dvd program i told you about to convert your downloaded movies to mpeg 2 which is the format that your current dvd player supports (the player sitting on top of your television set) . the program works well but sometimes if the movie is having audio issues i will run them through the divx converter first and then run them through divx to dvd and this seems to cure all the problems i used to have . i do not do any converting any more since i bought a television top dvd and divx player combo. i only burn data disc which is much , much faster. also it may be unsafe to be downloading these movies unless you have them on vhs or something and are looking for a easier method enstead of having to convert them all . and i still dont believe that , that is even legall , but it does give you a reasonable case if the man ever comes knocking with a supena. i dont no what your doing , but i thought i would inform you because most uneducated internet users are not aware they are even doing wrong . but i am willing to help you with whatever issues you have , no problem . if you still need help with any of these issues , or need some help finding the tools that i am using , private message me and i am sure that i can guide you in the right direction . the vso divx to dvd is right here on this sight i believe , its in the software section or just type it in the search at the top of the afterdawn home page. there are many ways of acheiving your goales , i was trying to keep it relativly simple for you by just having to use a couple of apps , one to convert if you must and then one to burn . you can even burn your divx to dvd conversions as a data disc to , it is much faster than burning it as a movie and having to go through all that encoding crap. i found this way to be the best for me and i have only ben tinkering around with pc's 6 mounths . and learned within the first mounth that data disc is way better than transcoding and if you have a player that will support divx then throw away all the miserable converting to . good luck .

What program is a "divx converter" and what program is a divxtodvd program??? or are they the same???.............sorry ...thank you tomlomeo P.S. i also don't understand "you can even burn your divx to dvd conversions as a data disc ". can you explain what you mean as a data disc...and how is that done.....what program should be used to burn a data disk???
hi so by the sound of it you have say a few episodes to convert from avi to dvd and you want a simple menu? i would convert each to dvd with TFM The FilmMachine/CCE then load to tmpgenc dvd author to make menus
you had mentioned in your first post that your movie had audio isues , being out of sink and such . my suggestion to fix this problem is to go to www.divx.com and download the trial of the divx convertor. once you have that app installed go find the movie that is having the audio sink problems and drag it into the convertor app and tick convert. waite till it is complete then open the divx movie folder that will be on your desktop and try playing the movie and see if the audio problems you were having are fixed . if all is well than i would delet the origanel and use the new movie file you created . if you do not want to buy a tvtop divx suported player but you still would like to watch your movie on your television set then go to afterdawns home page and at the top will be a long row of tabs that you can tick with your mouse , one of those tabs should say software section or something like that , tick that tab and start looking for a free program called divx to dvd or you can manualy type divx to dvd in the search bar . once you find the program , download it to your desktop or whatever and then install it . now that the " divx to dvd " program is installed go find the movie file that you would like to convert into a dvd and drag it into the " divx to dvd " program window and tick convert . once the conversion is complete open up a burning program and either burn the movie as a dvd data disc or you can burn it as a movie . you should of had some type of program come with your pc when you purchased it but if you didnt then you can use some freeware apps which i dont no of any sorry , or you could try borrowing a friends copy or something or go and buy one .the most common app that almost everyone burns with is a program called nero , it can burn many types of projects including data burns which is what you need to burn . you can download a free triale of nero at www.nero.com and use this to burn your dvd data disc or you can poke around on google and get yourself a freeware burning program that will not expire in a mounth . i have not used any freeware apps other than dvddecrypter but i am sure they are just as capable of burning your projects as nero is . if you have money to spend then i would buy the nero 6 edition or the nero startsmart i think they are the same not sure though . dont buy the nero 7 as i have read on afterdawn that most people are very dissatisfied with it . there are also freeware programs like the divx convertor program i told you about , but they are not as easy to use for someone that has very little experience in these areas. now so that we are both on the same page the divx convertor program can be obtained at www.divx.com and it can be downloaded for free , but it will only work for 30 days aprox , then you will have to buy it if you like it , its only 20.00 and in my case very worth it . i only use the divx convertor to repaire movies that are either out of sync or are in a format that my divx player will not play. now the divx to dvd is a seperate program that you will need to use if you do not have a tvtop divx supported dvd player . this program will convert all your downloaded movies to a format that can be viewed with any standard tvtop dvd player. both the " divx convertor " and the " divx to dvd " programs are very , very simple to use , all they require is that you open the program and simply drag the movie files into the program windows and tick convert , simple as that . the programs will take some time to convert , usualy one to two hours and if i were you i would not try to do anything else while the programs are doing there thing , unless you have a powerfull machine because everything will run terribly slow . once you have your conversion completed you will then close out the divx convertor or the divx to dvd program and then open your burning program . lets say you are burning with nero . open the nero program and at the top of the program window towards the middle of the window will be a cd , dvd or cd and dvd selection . in order to know what type of disc you will need to burn you will need to find out how large the movie file is . go find the movie file and right click it , then select properties and then a window will open telling you how large the file is . in most if not all cases the files are going to be larger than 700 megabits , which means you are going to use a blank dvd disc to writs your movie to . so select the dvd tab in nero than move a little to left over top of a symble that looks like a peice of paper , then look below that and you will see some options to choose from , one of those options will be to burn a data dvd, tick that option and wait for the next window to open . once the window is open go find that movie file and drag it over into the nero window and tick the next button then select your write speed , which most say that 4x is the best bet and then select how many copies of the movie you will like . the next step is to tick burn and let it do its thing , this will only take a couple of minutes unlike the converting programs . i am sory my replys are so long , but i just can not find a way to make them any smaller without being able to explain things . the best way to go is to buy the dvd player i told you about and then buy the nero program and just burn your downloads as is without any conversion , but if you do not buy the player than you will always have to convert unless you download in the mpeg format, which is already to go , all you have to do with this format in most cases is just burn the movie file as a data disc and thats it. but remember that is only if you download a movie that is in the mpeg format . if the movie is avi or something else than you will have to convert them . if all you want to do is to watch them on your computer screen then go to www.divx .com and download the free divx player and drag your movie files into the player window and tick play , sit back and enjoy. there is lots of guides here at this site that include lots of snazzy pics that will really help you understand what tio do . someday i will learn how to take pics and display them so that you can see just what i am talking about. your best bet is to go get either the programs i told you about or something like them and start playing with them . if you screw up oh well , your not going to brake your computer unless you loose your patients and knock it off the table. the programs i posted are very user friendly . there is not a bunch of options to choose from to confuse you . they were built with you and me inmind so dig in and try , there will be people here to help you along the way unfortunatly i can not offer any more on this topic because i am very limited myself in these areas . but i can tell that i have no problems whatsoever repaireing ,burning,converting and watching home videos i created with the same tools or watching movie trailers and clips that i have downloaded and burnt.
