I'm using a Winfast TV2000 Expert tuner card to record tv shows from my analogue cable tv. Capture Format: Mpeg2 Resolution: 720x480 Video Quality: 600 Target Data Rate (kbps):4850 The reason I like using this format is because I can then author it immediately with TMPGENC, takes 10 minutes for 2 hours of video then burn it. For a long time this worked fine but recently my mpeg2 recordings have had a video glitch near the beginning that doesn't throw the sync off when playing the resulting mpeg2 file on my pc but the sync gets thrown way out of whack after I author it. I tried using Nero Showtime which takes about 2 hours to author (re-encodes I think)and the sync is still out. When I use the PVR to record I make sure nothing else major is running on my pc. Could this be a codec problem? Can someone help me out here?
This is actually a problem with the WinFast Capture Software....It seems to use a Strange method of Keeping Sync when there are Frame dropps or Audio/Video Time Lag or rewriteing the Time Code so it stays in Sync But as Soon as the File gets re-Muxed like when authoring a DVD then the Time Code adjustments get removed which causes the File to go out of Sync ..... This is the Same type of Syncing method that Satalite TV Captures use to keep sync when there are Dropped audio or Video Frames so maybe running the Captured file through a program called "PVAStrumento" will help fix the problem but i don"t know... I would suggest that maybe you use a different Capture software Like Maybe something like "InterVideo WinDVR 3.0" which allways keeps perfect sync even through frame Drops Plus it is One of the Better Capture programs out there for Mpeg-2 Captures and it is One of the Few Capture programs that can capture the audio directly to Dolby AC3 Format which is the best Format for DVD..... good luck
