I need to read the forums alot more. Had no idea about 4.2, was upgrading a friend's wii (to 4.1 I thought) and much to my suprise it wasn't. Well I got HBC and Bootmii, which is a start, but nothing else seems to be working at the moment. TBR, Wadmanager, etc all fail. Oh well patience is a virtue they say, so he will have to wait until something hits.

there's a new hackmii installer now from bootmii.org. i recommend to install it right away, because it will not get deleted if you updated to 4.2. also, for those who have boot2 bootmii, you can reinstall it again.

but the best is not to update.

You should have used Waninkoko 4.2 updater instead. IOS222/223 and IOS249 still work.

ive just been given a wii and asked to zelder it! having not been on the scene for a while it reports it is at 4.2e does that mean its too late to do anything to it? other than hard mod (chip) it?

having read other posts it seams my question has been answered and its no ( but not to discount possible future methods. while the ussual answer on forums is to read before you post my question was about a virgin wii on 4.2 and not updating a previously modded wii (thats what most posts seem to be about)
thanks anyway, im sure larry will be along any moment to either confirm or correct me and then tell me off for not doing enough searching before i post ;o)

I only tell people off that could easily find information on known questions that are asked over and over again.

But any how HERE is supposedly a way to mod virgin 4.2 systems (Bannerbomb V2 is out and can be used on 4.2 systems).

Let us know if it worked if you follow the steps the member gives in that thread.

I'm on 4.2 now but none of the good preloader hacks work. Only the one that stops the check for home-brew.
