    Hi,
My system restore doesn't work and I don't have any idea why. I tried several times with different restore points. In fact, after the restoration is finished I can read that \no changes have been made to your computer\.
I use XP media center updated (sp3), installed on my computer 18 months ago (HP desktop). I checked in control panel and system restore is activated. Otherwise, my computer seems to work fine.
The only modification I made to my XP was to disable dr.Wattson debugger (after a crash, Microsoft advised me to do that, but i don't remember how i did it). I used recently scandisk and Norton system works 2006 (from cd) but system restore still doesn't work.
    Thank you for any advice.

I read all the information provided for rtrg on the same subject and finnaly I still have the problem. I used cc cleaner and regcure for my registry. I also used norton system works from the cd. I scan my computer with norton antivirus and antimalware and there aren't infections. All seems to be normal. I don't have any error message. system restore seems to be working but finnaly no changes have been made on your computer. Anyone can help?

Not sure if this will help u but i found this.

Right click [My Computer] [Properties] then click on System Restore tab.
Put a check in the box for Disable Restore on all drives.
Click apply, then Reboot your PC.
After the system reboots, navigate to the System Restore tab and turn it back on. Click apply.
Navigate to [System Tools] [Restore...] and choose [Create a Restore Point]
Provide a name for the new restore point.
Try and restore the new point just created. It should work properly.

Have you got real player installed on your system? There was a problem with real player corrupting system restore and a patch was needed to fix the problem or uninstall real player not sure if the patch was included in Sp3 have a read of this might help

    Hi guys,
Thank for answering to my question. I don't have real Player installed on my system, so the only thing to do is probably disable/enable system restore. I'll post the result.
There is a joke about Bill Gates traveling in a train with some other important people of this world. Suddenly, the train stops in the middle of nowhere and everybody is asked for a solution. Bill Gates idea was to get out from the train and after that to get back in.

Thank you everybody for your advice!
Now my system restore it's working. I just disabled and enabled it.
I was upset because I thought that this is a bad sign for my system and I'm not very happy to reinstall it. Now I see more hope!
