I use my computer for converting avi files to an iso and then burn to a disc. I defreg once a week (sometimes twice) and for some reason I'm running slow at start up / shut down, opening an application and etc. I do have 2 gigs of ram and all the other tech related answers about it at home (i'm at work). Any suggestions on why im running slow speed? Thanks in advance,
Do you have any antispyware programs running? If you do, thats probably your problem. Antispyware has to scan all files going in and out of hard drives it'll slowdown even the most powerful cpu's. Same with some bloated antivirus programs. I used to use webroot spyware sweeper but it would slow down my computer too much. But I think all the antispyware programs by there nature will slow you down.
OS - Vista The defrags not really that bad, I'll start it before I go to bed and when I get home it's done. "linux because it uses the ext3 file system" Not exactly sure what that means. Now how similar are the OS systems? Can you still use, excel / word?
From "Microsoft" all the drivers are up to date. And no the windows dont lag when they are moved around the screen.
The only antispyware, if you want to call it that, is windows defender and I do have the firewall set-up.
