I've just built a PC out of second hand parts that I know work. The PC will not boot up. It turns on (CPU fan starts to spin) then stops after half a second. I have removed all non-essential items (including all but 1 stick of RAM). The power supply was from a pretty old case so could this be the problem? Any help would be appreciated. Chris

Yeah the power supply could be the problem, is it from a case that had older parts in it that the parts you are trying to use with it now? If you are using p4 or later I think you need at least 350w power supply, probably 400w, the more the better really, cuz then the other devices in the case take up power. Check the wattage on the psu, and try a different one if its low.

try the board out of the case as sounds like a grounding problem.
