I'm starting to wonder why is the price of these TY dvd-r's dropping every few weeks. Is Taiyo Yuden making cheaper quality dvd-r's than they used to? I bought a few hundred a month ago and they have been perfect but this is getting crazy. This deal is too good to be true. Something has to be up.
I just recieved my 100 pack at 23$ yesterday and they continue to drop in price. As usual they are burning like a champ. Supermediastore is a reputable dealer and TY's have always burned great for me, so no reason to think something is up. 8x is the standard now...sure they are just pushing out old stock of the 4x discs.
Exactly, since 8x is becoming the standard, most disks will stop being produced in 4x in the near future.
i bet in the future they will be $0.20 each FLAT...give it a month or so, i guarantee they will drop even for a 1 day sale to that price, but better be quick on it. 8x IS THE standard, 4x are phasing themselves out, manufacturers know this, common sense. i have thousands of these TYG01s..they work perfectly...nothing to worry about. good luck
Is this what you guys are talking about? http://supermediastore.com/taiyo-yuden-4x-dvd-r-media-silver-matte-spindles-100.html Is it safe to write on the surface with a sharpie, or will it damage these kind of discs?
Yep, that's the ones. I write on them every time I burn one, which is up to around 50 or so, with more to come. Great disks BTW. Mike
i am a sharpie guy myself and have written in my messy handwriting on every single one of these that i have used. i've had to go through several boxes of sharpies since i've written to over a thousand of these the protective layer on top of these 4x TYGO1s are just fine, i personally don't believe the rumor about the chemicals in the ink of a sharpie deteriorating the surface over time... i think that is juss bs. you'll be fine using a Sharpie, i've had a few of these discs for over a year and they play back as good as the same day i burned to them. flawlessly. good luck
@limelight 100 should last you for awhile, im glad you took the plunge, you never know, a lot of members on here have received the TYGO2s when they purchased the TYGO1s (4x dvd-r from your link). i haven't been so lucky myself, but, i have nothing to complain about since the TYGO1s work great for me. good luck with your new media and burn on.
Price has jumped a little. Now that 100 pack is $27... http://supermediastore.com/taiyo-yuden-4x-dvd-r-media-silver-matte-spindles-100.html OK the final cost with shipping is $34.58 Shop4tech has them for $32 with free ground shipping. http://www.shop4tech.com/user.htm?go=view_item&id=3007&cata=1&s_cata= I think I'll buy here (shop4tech) & save $2.58 in the price. Rima seems to be out of TY 4x. America one has them (while supplies last) at $39 for a 100 pack. http://www.americal.com/ct/taiyo yuden dvd media.html
personally, i will NEVER buy from shop4tech again regardless of price, i was one of the unlucky people that got scammed by them sending me FAKE TY's. but, whatever is comfortable for you, please do what your heart desires. price fluctuates so frequently that when i buy at a given price, next week or a week thereafter it drops lower...then i get all frustrated since if had waited, i would have saved a few bucks here and there. oh well, that's just my luck w/ purchasing media; i have STILL yet to receive the TYGO2s for ordering the TYGO1s (4x).
If shop4tech has sent fake TY media to users (I can believe that) then I'll use supermediastore instead. Good thing I waited on odering since I've got 21 blank DVD's left to burn. Twelve 8x TY's (from the free 15 pack I got with a coupon from Plextor), Eight 4x MMC's (from a Mexell 10 pack I bought at Walgreens) & one 16x Verbatim that came with my drive. Oh the free TY's ($4.99 shipping) came from Discmakers (www.discmarket.com) & they are more expensive than other online places for 8x media which is the main reason I won't order from them again. Media, web site & cusomer service were great (So was the shipping time) but I want a cheaper price on my genuine TY discs. I even use TY for audio (home burned) CDR's now!
The first of these I bought from shop4tech.com. They are not fake by any means. As a matter of fact, they were up front and fast with me. Anyway, after reading all the folks on here complaining about them, I have shyed away from buying from them again. I tend to go with the flow on stuff like this. I don't want to push my luck, you know? Mike
Here is my scan of the TYs, 100 taped, from supermediastore, I got in on the deal for $23 plus $7.98 for shipping. looks good tiburon~ that's pretty much identical to my scans of those discs from supermediastore. shop4tech is very shady, you can even ask some of the senior members on AD here and they will tell you horrible buying experience from them, i am definitely NOT alone on this one. glad you waited a bit bratcher, i wish sometimes i were a lil slower on "pulling the trigger" for my media purchases as well, but, im too impatient to wait, i want my stuff now now now good luck to you all w/ the 4x dvd TYGO1s...i have thousands of these and so far, nothing but perfection~
I've waited for 2 reasons. First I don't like the bad shop4tech reviews (in fact I'll never order from them) so I'll only use supermediastore or rima for my DVD & CDR media needs & then only TY media. I'll order some discs when I run low...
yeah, you can see that there are quite a few other members on here that have had problems w/ shop4tech, i just wanted to point that out to you. happy hunting on your TY's...good day
