I downloaded a wedding video of my friend on mIRC. The file is 1.5 g broken up into 2 cds and I have the same problem with other files that are the same. I use winRAR to extract it, but then theres a winRAR problem, theres a pop up, and It says the volume is too great, and that session of winRAR stops responding. The question is how do i solve this and how do i get to the bin/cue files because it wont let me. I have burned bin/cue files as images with nero before, and it made vcds, but trying it with this is not making it happen. I keep getting stuck like this with all different sorts of files. This is not the only one. Thanks for any help offered. Kyubert
Thank you Dela for your advice, I tried to use the winzip, and it just leaded to the rar files which then goes to winRAR, and it goes back to square one again. There is a pop up where it says the next volume is required. Sometimes i was able to get through and get to the bin and cue file in winRAR, but when i tried to extract them to burn to image it did not do it. The same pop up came up. Also when i try to burn the image, I cannot seem to find the bin/cue files to burn.
Yes, the files do get extracted sometimes, but when I try to extract the bin/cue files page, thats when it says that pop up. Or am I doing this wrong? I did this same process on my own on other movies to get the bin/cue files so I can burn a image, but it does not seem to work for these bigger movies.
There is a pop up and it says this: "Next volume is required" "You need to have the following volume to continue extraction" Then theres a browse key "insert a disk with this volume and press OK to try again or press cancel to break extraction" I placed in a dvd disk, because I think that is the only disk that can handle that volume, and i still press ok, and it keeps popping up with that poppup. I have tried placing it on my desktop and other places on my computer, and it still pops up. And when I hit cancel, a winRAR diagnostic message pops up, but then at the same time it freezes up the winRAR, and I have to close it up, while it still is not responding. This comes up on many files all the time. All I want to do is view the file, and even hopefully place it on a vcd or even a dvd.
It keeps saying CFC failure, and the file is corrupt. It is not just that file, it is any file that is packed. When I winRAR them, it says every file is corrupt. Some say failed in videocd.bin, and cfc failure. Is there any programs that will fix this, I have tried looking, but still no luck!
Time to reinstall WinRar there. if its saying every compressed file is corrupted then WinRar itself is corrupted and needs to be reinstalled.. Also, try redownloading the movie with NOTHING else running in the background.. Ive found that huge files being downloaded with alotta other stuff running in the background tend to wind up corrupted somehow.. Oh and it couldve been IRCs fault - if the download was interrupted somehow or the servers bandwidth slowed down , the tar file most definatly probably is corrupted. Personally for uncompressing tar archives I use Total Commander. WinZIP and WinRar will open a tar but half the time errors occur cause tar is a 'Nix compression format. using a dedicated tar decompressor seems to work the best
I still think it was a transfer corruption as his winrar wouldnt repair it and he cant seem to get anything to repair it!
