Hi all. i am using Nero Vision Express and DVD Shrink. I can rip the dvd okay with shrink. The problem occurs just over halfway during the burn process. I always get the Target Failure or unspecified target failure does anyone know why? thanks a lot in advance. Davinci
sounds media related to me but could be other things. Need LAST section of your Nero log which is in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log, but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21'

you're missing half of it - see this line - that's the section divider, trace that back and let me have the complete section. as i say, don't post serial number which is near that divider..

i also write at 2x too. this has the same results. thank you for your time Creaky. I really do appreciate it. cheers
@davinci71 - no worries, however i can't find much wrong other than lack of memory - is this a really new drive as i can't find any updated firmware for it - oh dear, i'd say free some up but that's gonna be very tricky, as 192MB is barely sufficient for XP, never mind DVD work . I'll bet your hard drive is 'swapping' due to lack of memory, thus interfering with the burns - exactly what discs are these ?. i had awful problems with Bulkpaq Orange discs which are fakes of Taiyo Yuden discs with the TYG02 code
Bulkpaq im afraid lol, I have managed to burn a couple of dvd's but this is only twice out of a shed load of attempts. As for the drive its a 6month old laptop! not the best choice i made, i did look for firmware updates last night to no avail. How do i go about freeing up some memory? maybe i should try that. On both occasions of a successful burn its when i have formatted the Hard drive. dont like doing that though. You know, if wasnt fopr places like this where people are offering free advice i would be spending a fortune on phone calls. Thanks once again Creaky!
oh no - not those discs again. you'd best look down the first page of the 1st link in my signature for my own horrendous BulkPaq experiences and good media recommendations also....
no worries; every time i go thru my dvd cases (most days) i see 100s of BulkPaq discs that i know won't play, i'm certainly unable to back them up again, unless i backup from the originals, but van't be bothered yet as there's soooo many to re-do...
