I've read somewhere that the TDK Indi DVD 440N is a rebadged NEC burner...anyone know if this is in fact true? Also, what are your thoughts on it. COMPUSA has it for 149.00 this week after rebated, but I see NewEgg has the NEC ND1300A for 105.00...are these the same burners?

Its the opposite. The NEC is a rebadged of the TDK model..

If you so a search, you will find this information as well. Some have even used TDK's firmware upgrades to flash NEC drives..

TDK is the re-badger. And so is Plextor. Neither of them actually make the drives they start with.
