After changing my Telepest codes a few times last night, it was working perfectly. Came in this afternoon and they've all gone again Grrrrrrrr ! The footy's on tonight so can any anybody take pity on me and let me have the new codes ( again...sorry ! ) PLEASE HELP !!
lol, its unreal scouser, 10 odd posts on the same thing and they still wont update their box's. cut the chord and they will soon update them!
Appreciate the help guys, but bear in mind that I've only had the box a week or so, so I've got absolutely no idea what to do to update the box ???? Is there an "idiots" guide that'll show me what I need to get, and what to do to stop this happening again ? We're not all techno wizards...so take it easy ! Until then, I'll have to search for new codes.... :-(
This is the easiest way as per Celt's instructions: You will need to know if you have a clone or genuine Please click the SV EV Info link at the end of my post to compare clone V genuine boxes. You will need a null modem cable DB9F to DB9F. Null modem info http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=L71BT&DOY=2m6 If your pc does not have a serial port you will need a USB to serial port adapter to use in conjunction with the null modem cable. USB Adapter info http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Modu...erial Adaptor These two cable links are only for reference as they can be purchased alot cheaper on fleabay. All firmware/loader can be found in the link at the end of my post marked Eamos Library. You will need the GTromloader, (Starvi*w Software Uploader), found in the Starvi*w software folder of the link. You will need version 4.00 firmware for GENUINES found in "Starvi*w" firmware folder. You will need version 2.57_FIXED firmware for CLONES found in "Starvi*w" firmware folder. Updating Firmware Connect your box and PC with a Null modem cable and switch on the cable box and put it on STANDBY. (The Starview does not need to be connected to TV to update it with GTROM) Open GTROM Loader software make sure that you set the correct COM PORT that matches the one that is being used Make sure App file only is selected, then click Bin File & browse to the firmware where you downloaded it to on your PC. Run the GTROM loader by pressing Download and you will see the % progress increase then Download completed message on your PC.
look at the end of scousers mail for the links, there all there. If you only bought a new Starview last week from fleabay, then its a clone. Scouser, There is helping and then there is helping......
Cheers Scouser I'll have a good read through and try & give it a go.........I'm totally pi$$ed at Telepest for doing this all the time like madmen ! Don't they have "real" jobs ??
Mickah I got the Starview box from a friend last week. It was his Dad's, and as he's now in an old folks home wouldn't be needing it anymore, so I took the offer. I reckon it's about 10 - 12 months old. Sorry to put a few posts on here, but as I'm new, I don't have a clue what needs to be done.........it's a bit of a challenge even getting the new codes input properly sometimes!
