telewest Modem, Mode.l Number 255

    bought one for spare room just used splitter from original telewest connection but nae joy? yet when i use my original modem nae probs?? take it telepest originals are diff from the ones you buy online???

    Cable modems need to be individually registered with the service provider. You can't just "stick one on" and expect it to work.

    2 cable modems = 2 internet connection = 2 bills for service.

    Likewise you cannot split a DSL connection between 2 modems. Guaranteed to cause problems.

    You don't split DSL or cable at the demarc using the modem.

    For that you need a router to run ethernet or wireless to the different endpoints.

    get a wired or wireless router & you can daisy chain them wired wise.

    Thanks for that info lads!!! Just wasted a fiver on a modem thats no use!!! Learn by our mistakes!!!
