tell me why i should/shouldnt ret;urn my 360 for a ps3?

Yeah I was kinda sitting back and watching I figured the mods would have locked it because of that by now like the 100's of other comparison threads. And as if on que its turned into another flame war, surprise surprise.

 

Yeah! Whats up with the sony fanboys tying to carry over the glory of the ps2 onto the ps3? Do they really think there is some huge game selection for the ps3, or do they not know the difference?

When I have to order new games for my store, I buy the exact same titles for both systems. There are exclusives, but there is usually a counterpart on the other side. Its like when they came out with A Bug's Life AND Ants ats the same time. It is the same for games. Most of the games for either system are Sports games. They flood the market with them. Then come the fps, lots on both. The adventure genre has been thouroughly mixed with the RPG genre, so most kids today dont know the difference anyway.

The 360 has achievements
the ps3 has trophies

the 360 has a huge number of games that support 1080p
the ps3 has a much fewer titles that do, but they do look really great

the 360 has the red ring of death
the ps3 has the 3 beeps of death

What does it really matter,they are both going to brake right after the warranty expires. Which one would you rather replace every 13 months?

I assume your psp has a broken umd drive, right? those are legal backups your playing?

Someone listed modding as a reason to have a 360. That person did not say hacking. I have 2 modded 360s, neither of them is hacked. One is clear blue with blue lighted fans (rear and a core) which are wired to 12v all the time. One is clear with red lighted fans, and red lights on the front pannel when it is working and green lights where there is a problem.

My buddy was all excited, "hey lets do that to my ps3!"? I said well, they dont make shells for the ps3, and he asked, what can you get, I said "I can change the top cover to either silver or white. but you do realize that your ps3 is a translucent grey, its not black, lets just put lights in it!"

 

Actually the truth is 360 does not support Native 1080p. Ps3 does, Gran turismo 5 prologue i belive is not upscaled it is rendered in 1920x1080 at 60fps Progressive, X360 I dont know about 360 having more 1080p tittles ussually the good looking games cant run a steady fps at 1080p unless lots of effort has gone in like in Gt5,
I cant really tell you from the top of my head which is better but ive always liked sony consoles more since the Psones era (mid-late 90's) I think that most the people who own a PS3 now are the ones who liked sony before but I will admitt they have lost some amazing first party tittles first on to my mind is Crash Bandicoot I wouldnt blame sony naughty dog just wanted something different for the 6th gen (Jak and Dexter) and now Uncharted but I still dont feel tho that Crash Bandicoot has been matched by something else (Adventure) to what Warped ever was and dont even talk about crash bandicoot now its horrible, Spyro also went down but I feel spyro is still on the right track it still has that same feel and characters havent been changed to the point where its just over the limit, (Like tiny in Titans).

2008 Is The Year Of Sony Exclusives. Do some homework before you come into a PS3 thread.

Dont get me wrong, I loved my ps1 and my ps2, but this is a new generation, and just because the ps3's daddy and grand pappy kicked ass, does nto mean that it automatically does by default.

If you are going to love the ps3, love it because the ps3 rocks, not because you used to own other sony stuff that you liked.

Maybe I am just halucinating because of all the solder I inhale, but I can see a difference when I switch between 720p and 1080p on my 360. I know that part of the confusion as to if it supports it, is that for some reason people think you have to have hdmi for 1080p which is wrong, you do not have to use hdmi. Component video does support 1080p. If you do not get 1080p using componant, then it is your tv that does not support 1080p via componant.

You can usually tell if something is just being upsampled because there is more antialiasing going on to help fake it. or there isnt and it looks like crap, liek watching regular tv on an hdtv.

If I am wrong, then what is the point of putting that info on the back of the box? Why wouldnt every single game just have the whole list if it is just resampling?

I own everything. I am impartial, that was my point. If it wasnt for acheivement I may not own more games for my xbox than my ps3. But then it would still end up being even.

Sony exclusives? Oh yeah those games that only come out for 1 system, like GTA4, and FF13? Those exclusives?
2008 is the year that comes after 2007 and before 2009. Stupid titles are just a gimick to make you think they are actaully doing something productive.

2. if you think you can only have 1080p with hdmi, then you should do some homework. hell, I dont even use hdmi on my ps3 and it runs at 1080p (omg and those sony brand cables rock!).

3. I have personally held 3 ps3s that had chimed the 3 beeps. I service a large area, but the population is not that dense. 3 YLOD ps3's in a small group of people when the system is still young, it may well be more common than you think. Plus the stats are skewed because sony does not admit to the problem, and most people look for help on forums where they do not know what to ask properly.

4. The damn thing has barely been out for 2 years, and the first production run wa small. sales sucked, so many of the systems out there have less than 13 months of use. so your point is unfounded. You have no idea what the lifespan is, you are just hoping it is as nice as the ps2. You have to realize, playstation is just a logo. just because it says ps on it does not mean it was well engineered. There is obviously a different design team for the ps3, because it has several internal flaws that the ps2 designers would have avoided.

From my experience, a ps3 is less likely to get that error, because they are too busy having drive issues. I replace a lot of blue ray decks... Dont get all pissy, because I replace just as many dvd drives in 360's. I have only gotten to work on 2 wii's. 1 with a bad fan, and one with a bad drive.

Just because you read some forum does not make you an authority. Just because your 2 friends still have a working ps3, doesnt mean that every single one is perfect. If you would spend a little less time getting all hurt that someone pointed out a flaw in your system, you might realize I am pretty unhappy with BOTH Sony and M$. The lead free issue is not really their fault, but M$ has shelled out over a billion dollars making it up to their customer. Sony charges $150+ to fix nearly anything.
