    Hi

    I have a Technika DVD Player DVDFAW08

It is xvid compatible and divx only plays half of my divx collection. I can't fathom out why. The previous model I had from Tesco, the Technika 1033 played ABSOLUTELY everything (all varieties of divx, xvid, mp4 at various bit rates).

when i convert files to other formats sometimes they are jumpy

Is there a firm ware upgrade so it plays everything?

    Can anyone help

Look at the FourCC code and compare the ones that play to the ones that don't.

cheers i got that program the other day

    XVID plays

but the ones that don't play are

    H264

    DX50

    Beautiful

Now i can check before i put the video in, dim the lights and get the pop corn out.

Kind of ruins the moment :)

I used a program called AVIrecomp to sort them out to play

So now i can check for XVID and recomp before popcorn

    Many Thanks

the renaming idea worked on some, but not all the files

the one that said H264 needed re comping

the DX50 most worked with just renaming the extension

but one that "VBR audio drifted" on Windows player(but not VLC), only played for a few seconds on my DVD player

    re comping it worked fine

if i use AVIrecomp do i loose quality by re comping something?

    cheers

Every re-compression means some loss - some can see it and can't stand it.
    It barely registers on me.
