I wanna test thr true preformance from my Intel Core duo E6750 CPU,
but all the dianostic test i run only give the performance of one of the cpus which is 2.66. So i should be getting 5.2 from these diagnostic test. Am i doing something wrong??

No you should be getting 2.66Ghz. Having a dual core processor does not mean you have a 5.33Ghz processor, it means you have two processing cores that both run at 2.66Ghz - i.e. if a program can only recognise one core, it'll only get 2.66Ghz worth of speed.

with dual and quad cores it doesnt get faster because it is faster

it just means multitasking gets done rather than programs taking turns running on a single core and making each program slower

ie: virus scan running while you are watching a video ... video will be unlikely to be choppy

instead of increasing speed on the processors they decided to increase quality

what about dual threaded applications? don't they split the workload between the cores? so that each core does half the work and in essence is faster?

That is true, but there still isn't a huge number of multi-threaded apps out there.
