I did a sample of twenty threads where people initially asked for help with a problem. Eleven of the twenty never made any kind of response to the solutions offered. That is, either the solutions offered worked and they could't be bothered saying thanks or the solutions offered were of no help, but they were too shy to say so. I fear that a lot of the more experienced members have dropped out of the 'Nero' forum. Not a good sign;it throws too much weight on the shoulders of the few who are willing to answer the questions.
It may be the Shotgun effect. Ask a question in a number of forums and use the one that answers first. Check the Newbies to see if they have made any other post before or since.
Mate here we help out where we can and there are a lot of newbies here as aD grows everyday. Most questions we come across are repatitive and just a nusance sometimes. Thats y some of us old timers leave them b and if we answer we tall them to search first, if we dont have the time to do a long explanation. Stick around people help out where they can and u have to give it sometime. There are threads i have started and no response soo i just search and post the answer myself.
hi attar, 'fraid for me personally i just couldn't keep up with Nero forum anymore, i managed keeping on top of most threads every day for a year, just couldn't devote that much time anymore; though i think you guys and gals in there are keeping the place in check.. ps i keep meaning to have the Nero bit taken out my sig pic as i'm not Nero-nating these days
I'd leave it in there creaky, (as dubbed by me) and when you do grace the Nero forums the posters will know who they are dealing with...
I would class myself as an experienced 'newbie' and I will require help. It is the up and coming afterdawn addicts like myself that will answer some questions from new newbies and help afterdawn grow.
I really hate is when people cry and bitch about threads not getting answered. This isn't tech support for the hardware or software you own. Members come here on their own free time and graciously offer support and advice, for free. Just because some threads don't get answered right away doesn't mean that there aren't good members here.
I am a definite newbie on aD, and was delighted to get very quick advice for my questions. I thought it was only polite to give some timely feedback / progress report in response to the advice provided. So I did. Moving on, I notice some threads I offered advice on have gone cold. Maybe it was good advice and fixed a problem - maybe better advice came from somewhere else. It would be nice to know either way.
hi having just read this. i have cast my mind back over the time i've been here, and can only remember being thanked maybe 3 times. perhaps by the time i make Addict (in the yr 2009) i'll get 3 more @ creaky hi remove the nero at your peril, i'll be up there on my trusty steed faster than a rat up a drainpipe, twisting your arm up your *** until you reinstall it
Here is the reason I've given up on making the attempt anymore. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/385452 The post from the 'member' (that's a polite way of describing this charmer), added nothing of any substance to the original posting, but thought it amusing to demonstrate contempt for my efforts. In time my membership will become 'inactive' as the emails start to bounce, still, I enjoyed the Creaky's and Gurnard's and all the others too numerous to mention. ---------------RB
@attar - don't let the idiots win; believe me i have to put up with loads of crap and backchat from idiots. i'll have a look into that link..
@attar You aren't the only one to have problems with this dude...politeness nor rudeness helps. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/382962#2306632 http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/381894
@ attar Good to see we have people who stand up for ourselves. I've never had encounters like this...yet. But I ceartianly don't like fellow members being put down in that way, by Senior Member or newbie. Your not alone.
