I forum that i sometimes visit uses a "thanks" system, and a "reputation" system.

now although afterdawn uses a system for the ranks, like noobie and addict etc, i just think you could add another (still keep the ranks!!), or trial it.

basically, instead of people clogging up threads by saying "thanks", there is a link under evey post saying "thank [whoever it is] for this post", and whoever thanks them for it is listed underneath the post saying that they have thanked them.

There is also an "add to reputation" button, and you can leave a comment about a post, positive or negative, and a positive adds a green bar (or takes of a red one), and a negative comment adds a red bar (or takes off a green one).

Just a thought, if your interested i can take some screenshots.

To be honest this wouldn't work IMO. People would use it as an oppertunity to get back @ members they don't like, or people would abuse the system etc.
This might be a plausable idea if all the members of aD were mature (like you and others)...

Anyway I've asked for this to be moved for you too :)

Thanks for the teleportation both of you.

@Ripper, thanks for calling me mature :D

Also, i see ur point, that other forum people are always leaving bad feedback for nothing. Still, worth the though wasnt it.

It's the same thing, what you suggested = karma system (on some forums).

Pro'lly wouldn't work, but i thought its worth considering, it would be a good punishment though, some mods and respected members have been calling for a way to put a member on "probation" of some kind when they f**k about, like demoting them to noobie status for 2 weeks.

This would be an ideal solution to the problem like, as you said ripper, everyone was mature.

So, the only way i could see it working would be for moderators and/or selected trusted members to be the only ones with the authority to leave "feedback" or "karma" or whatever.

Or, it would work (much more simple) to just have the negative feedback (shoutboxes could be used for positived), and again, just have mods or selected members to have the authortiy.

Something like a negative points warning, 3 points and your banned for a week, 4 points 2/3weeks, and 5 points permanently.

Obviously the severity of the incident/s warranting the negative points would determine whether or not the mods would jump straight to certain milestones, like giving 3 points straight away, if someone was just damn right insulting.

Try and make sense of that. lol.

So now we have the prospect of all the "title hungry" n00bs making multiple accounts and bumping themselves up with that as well as spam posting..... That's gonna alienate a lot more of the seniors who tell it like it is, and to hell with the consequences....

Why keep messing with things. Ad was great before all the modifications . Now it's just not the same... Ahhh I dunno..maybe I'll just crawl back under my rock and see what happens..

My prediction.. More offensive behaviour from kids trying to A) bump up member level with rubbish B) Multiple accounts to gain votes also to increase rep...

I have left all the sites where they run this kind of rubbish.. It has nothing to do with quality..just with popularity/cheating/victimising/bullying/brown nosing.., and that sucks.
