    Hi everyone.
After months of talking on this forum I have master the art of Modding.
but I now see tons of noob's trying to figure out how to burn backups or atleast what to use.
I just wanted to make a note for everyone.
MEMOREX DVD+R's are the best to use, they will even work in my Samsung drive (Which will only play on DVD-R discs)
Just burn the data at 4x and these blanks will work in all 4 different xbox drives.
    Just a heads up!

Give it a few more months and you'll also be a "master" of burning out your consoles laser. Bad advice.

I'm not to sure about anyone else, but i've been using Shintaro discs for years and have never ever had one problem with them! The new ones are 8x but when inserted into my burner will happily burn at 12x! I've never had a fail, have made copies for friends and have tested them in all three drive types! The list provided above suggests that the discs are CMCMAGAE1 CMC Magnetics Taiwan DVD-R and they are classed as 4TH CLASS MEDIA! Basically, just use whatever is working for you and leave it at that!

    Just my two cents

Wow, I obvioulsy need some of what you guys are smoking. Memorex? Good?
I would faint at the sight of the two words in the same sentence! Lucky I am sat down...
It is common knowledge there is nothing [bold]worse[/bold] than Memorex, CMC Mag media.
I would be able to get at least 200 people to vouch for that at the blink of an eye.

That is true to some degree. However, there are lots of better brands to choose from then Memorex. So why bother to use Memorex when it "works for you" if you could use Verbatim "if it works for you"?

No point argueing, I am right. ~LoL~

memorex might work for you now, but it might not in as little as a few weeks. the dye deteriorates very rapidly in most cases. that stuff is utter crap.

Yes, good point, Aus. I missed that one in my earlier post. Taiyo Yuden, for example, use a special type of dye that means the data can with held and read for longer. The dye in memorex disks is so poor. A dvd burnt now wouldnt play at Christmas...

lol @ MEMOREX. Those dvd's are poorly made around the edges!! Use half the space on the dvd and you might be alright but get to close to the edge, SKIPS-FREEZES-ERRORS.

    Since I switched to verbatims------> 1200 movies + 300 Xbox games all working 100%

I dare you to go up to the shrink forum and make that statement!!!!

@PLowran - do you realise that companies such as Memorex use varying quality in disc manufacturers ?, one day you could end up with discs made by one company, and another day end up with discs from another..

    for example....

    - 3 different companies discs, and i wouldn't use/trust any of them (and again, you could end up with any of those without knowing 'til you actually go to use them, it's a lottery as to what you'd get

    - i know these are -R, and they're 4x, but the same principle applies. The only ones i'd use there are the 'MCC 01RG20' ones, however how would i know i was actually going to get those ? - here's how, if i wanted MCC discs i'd go buy Verbatim. Most Verbs have MCC media codes - which is Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (their parent company). They are reputable, top quality discs.

Lol, I wouldn't touch [bold]any[/bold] memorex disks, regardless of their "media code". As creaky said, Verbatim make top qualty disks, as do Tayio Yuden and Sony (MIJ) and Maxwell (MIJ) and Ritek and RicohJPN.

So if you have all these reputable brands to choose from, why waste your money on Memosux??!?!?!

Yes, but try playing them in a year or so. They won't work.

I had a few Memorex DVD-Rs handy after I used up all of my Verbatim DVD-Rs for my PS2 backups, and comparing the load times between the two was enough for me to throw the Memosux in my microwave!
