The best software under $2000 is DVD-RB/CCE Basic period. DVD-RB has a free version but CCE Basic costs $58 and uses the same encoding engine as it's $2000 parent CCE SP. It is by no means the fastest (actually one of the slowest) about 2 hrs to encode a 7000mb video folder but for video quality it can't be beat by anything but CCE SP.

If you want speed and quality I recommend Intervideo DVDCopy3. It is one of the fastest and is second only to RB/CCE in video quality IMO. It has a three week fully functional trial period and can be found here http://www.intervideo.com/jsp/InterVideoDVDCopy_Profile.jsp

    Hello Mort81,
Thanks for the intervideo software tip, but I have another question. Under $2000, what is the best ripping software, and the best compressing software? I know Dycrepter and Shrink are free ( and really good because I currently use them ), but i've come across some more difficult to rip dvd's, and am know willing and able to purchase better software.
I'm just asking what the best complete package is. I.E. Ripper/compressor/burning utility.
    Thanks again.

    m33tt,

try the free stuff first. DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter. If you feel you have loss of quality, then I would try something different.

I have Rebuilder w/ CCE basic and I rarley use it. There have only been a small handful where I lost video quality.

    slow45,

AnyDVD is an excellent program to have .. runs $39 U.S. ... w/ DVD Decrypter and AnyDVD you can rip any movie (at least I haven't found one I can't rip)

    Hi slow45,

Even though it is no longer updated as of about 3 weeks ago, IMO dvd decrypter is still the best ripper available and will still handle 99% of the dvd's released in the states. It is free and can be downloaded here. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_decrypter.cfm Another ripper that runs entirely in the background and is still being updated regularly is anydvd. I believe it costs $39 (can't remember for sure). It performs like a driver and you don't even know it's running. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/anydvd.cfm Another one that is similiar to anydvd is dvd43 http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd43.cfm It is also free and hear it is once again being updated though I don't know for sure since I don't have it or use it. Another ripper that is similiar to dvd decrypter but IMO not as user friendly or as good is DVDFab decrypter.

Like I stated earlier and I think most senior members and addicts will agree, DVD-RB/CCE Basic is the best encoding combo period especially for high compression applications. I prefer nero as my burning rom but that is just a matter of personal preferance. There are a lot of folk here that like to create an ISO and burn with dvd decrypter since it is free. Hope that helps.

I want to add that I agree .. it is an excellent combo. But, it takes around 3 hours per movie.

yes DVD-RB/CCE Basic is the best quality wise
theres a couple other programs you might give a shot also
Intervideo DVDCopy3 with running anydvd in the background or
DVDClone2 with anydvd and you can get that one as a package deal.
Both come with a free trial to try before you buy so def. check them out.
as far as freeware dvd shrink dvd decrypter (which arent updated anymore) and DVD43

DDVD is the best for me.
    I like Shrink 2 compress.
I also have any in the background if I just use shrink 2 compress and decrypt.
This handles 90% of the DVD's out there, alot of movies have fillers
    in them.
    I do just the movie.
I have yet to try DVDRB and CCE,still in school...money tight.

chazbmwUS you don't have to spend money to try Rebuilder. There is a free version of Rebuilder and some very good free encoders like HC and QuEnc. Both HC and QuEnc give better quality than the one click programs

Good point Ppower. I finally tried DVD-RB with QuEnc just for fun. Very good quality but even slower than CCE. Great combo for free if you have the time or batch process. Absolutely no reason for everybody not to have these freebies.

Mort81 have you tried HC yet? The quality is as good as QuEnc but twice as fast

No not yet. I already have CCE Basic and never really had a need to use the free encoders, like I said tried QuEnc for fun. I'll give it a try just to check it out. How about ReJig. You tried it?

No, like you I have CCE. I experiment once in a while with the free ones but only HC and QuEnc so far
