    Guys,

I'm just starting out to try and transfer all my old video footage from my hanycam to DVD format. Initially I thought I'd just do a straight copy, but I now want to do some editing before burning the DVD. With that in mind, what would be the best format to capture the source video into, AVI or mpeg??

I'm thinking that mpeg2 might be the best option given I don't have massive amounts of free disk space. But can you edit the file once it is in this format?? ie add voice overs, transitions etc. Also, if I burn all this footage to DVD can I go back and reuse this footage to make compilations later??

Any suggestions before I get started would be appreciated.

avi. I know it`s a pain but it`s the truth. Most editors don`t bother with mpeg2 (Premiere Pro does, but even that isn`t frame accurate).
