    Hello bartyboy7,

Well, from what I got out of your post, you are looking for a reliable connection without much cost. It can be done, probably pretty easily.

I would check out Broadband Reports to see what is available in your area.

If you live in the States then its possible to lookup what you can get by your Zip Code or phone number.

If not then I am not sure how to search for an ISP.
Let me know either way (if your located in the US or not) and if your not located in the US I will try and find out how to search for available ISPs in your area.

    Peace,

i live in england. been reading about an isp called eclipse. but it was mixed reviews. basicly i only use the internet for downloading. so a isp that doesnt cap my speeds would be good.

It all depends where you live.. Just use google and read ALL the small print. Generally without paying a fortune for a connection the UK providers don't have much to choose between them..generally crap and limited bandwidth..they get out of this by saying "up to" instead of guaranteed minimum. BT and Bulldog are too expensive. My domestic is blueyonder because they are my only option for household use.. My commercial connection is with UKabove, but they don't do single wire broadband...

As for capping..you will be, it's unavoidable as the fastest domestic is 12Mb/s in the UK.. A symmetrical up/down connection will cost at least 75% more than say a 2Mb down 256k up.. Do your research, I heard of a company called Pixie who seemed good, but they are South East only...
At all costs avoid AOL.. They tell tales to the MPAA and RIAA!!
