I have found nothing about this yet on the web, but expect to after Christmas. Last week I received The Best of Match Game 4-DVD set bought from BestBuy.com. The first three discs worked fine, but the last seems to suffer from an error in duplication. Namely, the last "regular" episode on the disc, the 1962 B&W pilot, and the photo gallery do not play, or will play with jumpy/artifact video and audio. I returned the set to a bricks-and-mortar store, and bought another copy. Guess what...same problem. If anyone has advice on how to contact the production company (BCI) or how to go about resolving this issue other than returning it again and just living without it, please let me know. I wanted others to know that there was a defective pressing out there. Maybe I should wait until the "Price is Right Live" sticker on the outside of the package is eliminated so I can assume it's a different pressing? Anyone? Thanks!
Hey I had the same problem - I just got mine on eBay and the 4th disk is a total disaster! The defective 4th disk has been written about elsewhere on the net since I mentioned it on my blog, so you are not the only one who has problems watching that disk.
Yes, it seems like the first production batch was fine, but this second run had a problem with Disc 4. I've had three now, two from Best Buy, one from Amazon, all with the same problem. What can be done about it, other than stand by and wait until the retailers return enough DVDs for the production house to sit up and take notice? What is the link to your blog, Nate? Thanks. I encourage anyone else with this problem to write to the distributor: BCI Eclipse 810 Lawrence Dr Ste 100 Newbury Park, CA 91320-9915 e-mail contact is info@bcieclipse.com
Same here, I bought mune at Best Buy in Mass. I'll read on further to see if anyone has distributor info for a new pressing, I hope so.
From a poster on amazon.com, I received an e-mail address of an actual person at BCI Eclipse who is sending him a new Disc 4. I sent an e-mail advising this contact that the problem is widespread and they should have a program in place to address this, rather than the "we'll send you a new disc 4 if you complain." I'll keep everyone updated on any word I hear back from BCI Eclipse.
Hey All, I joined this thread through searching for people who had had the same problem. Only difference I've had is that I've only had 1 out of the 4 discs work... and that's only in select DVD players (won't play in laptops, regular DVD player, Xbox DVD player).. namely my PS2 DVD player. Anywho, I will be writing the company for a replacement. I've already replaced the dvd at Best Buy 3 times with the same results. I'll be checking the thread for any other discoveries.
I also wrote a snail-mail letter in December, but had more success e-mailing Sales Coordinator Dan McNair (dmcnair) at bcieclipse dot com. On January 2, I received an e-mail from him stating that a replacement disc 4 with a prepaid mailer for the defective one would be sent out in two to four weeks ("although it will most likely be much faster.") Today marks the beginning of Week Three. We'll see. I'm through screwing around; flood his mailbox with your requests for a replacement Disc 4.
I used the e-mail address that Coyote24 provided, info@bcieclipse.com, to request a replacement disc 4 on 2-2-07. I got a response within about 5 minutes and received a replacement on 2-9-07. Thanks Coyote24!
I finally recieved ONE replacement disc in the middle of February. I had specifically asked for TWO, as I bought one set as a gift. This forced me to copy the disc. I figure that I OWN two copies, so I'm entitled to copy it. In the process, I discovered that the commercials in the B&W pilot are actually ON the disc, although BCI chose to skip them. They're viewable via some DVD manipulation.
I have posted here before and have made a development on this issue. While I've been too lazy to send out the email, I wanted to try my discs out in another DVD player, because none of my discs were working, with the exception of the first one. I have found that ALL of the discs now work on my Xbox DVD player, however, this is after I have replaced the THOMPSON DVD drive with a SAMSUNG DVD drive, making the game system much more reliable. So, if any of you out there having the same problem with your Match Game discs find that you try it in an Xbox, if you own one.
