Please don't buy a "top of the line" computer. If you really, REALLY must have one, and you have the money to spend, build it yourself. You are talking over 5 grand if you want a something top of the line from Alienware (rip off). You can build that same 5,000 dollar system for 2500 or around in there, if you do it yourself...and you have the pride in knowing you built it yourself, and everything is correct.
I'm sure people will be more than happy to give you a shopping list and where to get parts from if you want it, and then help direct you with the buildif you get stuck. I agree totally with Iceguy, if you buy a pre-built system you'll get ripped off. There is nothing to building your own PC once you have the bits, it just important to get the correct parts to start with, and if you have enough money to spend, then that will be easy.
whats the best board etc if you want to build a high end amd comp that will run faster then anything alienware sells.please help cause i want to build one.or is it just as good to buy a bare bones and go from there?im pretty confussed myself thanks chris
This is what I would be buying if it were me,Asus A8N-SLi Premium nForce4 SLi (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard then stick the following CPU in it AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4800+ (Socket 939), you're not going to get any better.
A pair or two of these would go nicely Corsair 1GB DDR XMS3200XL Platinum TwinX (2x512MB), 2 of these XFX GeForce 7800GTX Extreme Edition 256MB GDDR3 VIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express), 4 of these Western Digital Caviar Special Edition 250GB 2500KS SATA-II 16MB Cache set to raid 10, 1 of these Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS Edition - Retail, 1 of these Antec Phantom 500W Hybrid Fan Silent ATX2.0 PSU, 1 of these Lian-Li PC V2000 Silver Aluminium Full-Tower (No PSU), 1 of these WaterChill KT12A-12VX Antarctica CPU/VGA/Chipset Ultra Extreme Cooling Kit - Triple 120mm Radiator/Fan, 1 of these Plextor PX-716SA Serial ATA 16x16 Dual Layer DVD±RW ReWriter, 1 x Plextor PX-130A 16x50x DVD-ROM, a set of these M-Audio Studiophile LX4 2.1 System & M-Audio Studiophile LX4 5.1 Expander, 1 x Epson Stylus Photo RX700 Printer, Logitech diNovo Media Desktop v2.0 and finally 1 x Apple 30" Cinema HD LCD Monitor.
