I'm making video with my DV camcorder and I want to save the edited video to a CD (not DVD) so I can play it on my PC.
I tried .mpeg, but the quality is lost (if compared to playing directly from my camcorder).

which video format would you suggest??

You do not need to have a DVD player for SVCD files. They are playable on a normal CD ROM. You need to burn the CD in SVCD format.

The best software in my opinion for this is GNU VCD Imager (with the VCD Easy frontend)

    What ?
DivX is much better than SVCD for CD ROM playback on PC !
Real Video 9 is even better, but you need a >1 GHz CPU for playback.

If you play video only in PC then DivX is best.
But I don`t know how long.
Maybe SVCD take win in this "fight".
    Remember that..
