Hi there. New boy here. I live in Scotland and have owned dboxes in past. Last night I got 'The Box' (Star Box 2?) installed.
No major problems, and actually quite impressed with it. One nagging point is that I always got (and still get in another room) BBC3, BBC4 and Sky Movies HD2, however new box does not show these channels, and states (if I remember rightly as I'm at work) "scrambled or blocked channel".
    Anyone have any ideas why?

    As always, help is appreciated.

    Cheers.

BBC 3 & 4 don't start to broadcast until 6 or after and The Box doesn't support HD broadcasts so it won't show them.

    Cheers for the reply.

Any other ideas, as it was last night (10pm) that I first tried the box. SKY SD1 does run kay, but not SD2!

All the channels I listed above are okay on seperate (illegal) digibox.

I suppose these channels are not a major problem, but just annoying my inquisitive mind and I am just wondering if this 'bad or scrambled' channel could be remidied for the two BBC Channels (if not the hd2).

    Thanks again.

oop, just noticed that I put HD instead of SD1!!

I am at work , and pretty sure that thread is correct now....

SD1 works, but BBC3, BBC4 and Sky SD1 were only channels I noticed problems with last night. I will go through all channels tonight.

Being new to 'THE BOX' thing, can anyone tell me is this common to find certain channels having error message odd times?

    Cheers

No you shouldn't normally be getting the message saying "Info..scrambled/bad channel" unless you put it on a channel that isn't broacasting, check what API version is on your box,to do this press the 'Menu' button on your remote and select 'System Information' from the list and post back what it is.
Sometimes if you don't have the latest firmware on the box it can cause channels to frequently display this scrambled/bad channel message.

    Software is 4.51, version 7.0?, July 2007.

    Does this help?

I di dfactory reset yesterday and Sky Screens 1 and 2 are okay now, but no BBC3 OR BBC4......looks like I will need to watch them on normal Cable Box (if I ever do!)...just annoying my brain though.

    cheers y'all

As CO said they dont braodcast until after 7PM, check CBBC after seven as they share the same PIDs.

    Just to clarify...

.do you mean 'scan again after 7 for channels only' (as I scanned before 7, but channels are still listed, but scrambled after 7).

    or do I

check CBBC Channel after 7, to see if that is scrambled (or is it to see something else appear?

If CBBC appears what does this mean, and inversely if it is scrambled also what does that mean ?

Hope you know what I mean!!

    cheers

Yep I know what you mean. Just check CBBC and Cbeebies after seven and you will see BBC3 & 4 there.

Cheers for that, but I am checking them after 7, but they are showing 'bad or scrambled. Not checked CBBC yet.

Will SCANNING automatically AFTER 7 make any difference, or is it just something I will need to live with.

Just to reiterate, BBC3 and BBC4 appear to be the only channels unavailable. I am checking them after 7 pm. (although not checked CBBC yet!)

BBC 3 and 4 will come on for you at after 7 so when it comes to that time turn on your box and go to bbc 3 and you'll find them broadcasting, ;)

Is my fault that I am checking the channel after 7, but I should actually be turning the box ON after 7?..

(i.e. if the box is on from say 6pm and I chekc it at 7, the channels won't appear?)

cheers mate for all the help .
    it is appreciated.

You're welcome Shoestrin,no matter what time you turn The Box on at the BBC'S will be broadcasting from 7,you can't watch them unless you turn on your box.
So when you turn on your box select BBC3 or 4 at 7 or after you will find them showing stuff and if they aren't on but all your other channels are coming in then there may be a fault with these channels in your area or you might have to do an manual scan on the frequencies for them but I would doubt that this is the case.
So tonight put on BBC3 and you should find it working ok, ;)

Cheers guys once again. I guess I will have to live without them. I can live with it I suppose.

Turned to those channels (BBC3 AND BBC4) last night 8pm and 9pm..still bad/scrambled.

The only thing I have not done is actually turned the box on after 7pm, and I suppose I haven't deleted these two channels and 'auto scanned' as someone mentioned - but would this make a difference at all?

Hi i have a problem. Ordered the box over the internet and it came Friday 2 weeks ago, have api version 4.54e and apparently thats not correct 4 Ireland meaning i can't get 2 the nagravision menu. Emailed the company I bought it from and this is the reply they sent

Hi This should get you into the menu.
You need to enable the Key Emu to unscramble the channels.
To enable the key emu on The Box do the following steps.
1 press the menu key on the remote
2 go down to parental control and press OK
3 press info on the remote then key in 2004
You should now be in the CAS-SYSTEM
4 scroll down to the key emu and turn it on.
5 press exit 3 times to get back to TV
6 switch channel to one with a $ sign next to it and wait for the box to update.

Because this didn't work i really dont know what 2 think, I was also told by some1 else that it may need 2 b flashed again but because im not very technical I wud have difficulty doin this on my own, does anybody know of any1 in Dublin that wud b able 2 flash it 4 however much it may cost or exactly what shud I do, any help is very much appreciated!
