Hello All Happy New Year! A friend left the country last week and passed a digital box called 'The Box' to me. I know it works well with a cable connection (my friend had virginmedia) but unfortunately i live in a non-cable area. Hence can't use the box over a cable connection as don't have the option of subscribing to a base cable package. Couple of questions that you might help me with: 1) Do I have the option of using The Box for relying Freeview channels? My area receives Freeview and I was wondering whether I can use this digital box as a Freeview box? If yes, are there any configuration changes that I will have to do, as my friend had got it working perfectly on an N*L connection. 2) Can the box be used with a Sky connection? My place has got wall sockets for Tv/Sat/Radio. I can get a base Sky package that would be transmitted to my flat via communal dish. Needed to confirm whether the Box can function on Sky as efficiently as it does on cable connection. Many Thanks Regards HD
Thanks Tryabit for the response. That I believe answers point 2) hence can't be used with Sky. But can it be configured to receive Freeview? I ask as the box says Free to Air... Many Thanks HD
the answer is no again im afraid they do pick up free to air channels but only if u have a basic cable package but if your from ireland ive seen freeview boxs and dish brand new for 50 euro
