    Hi,
I can't get into the cas menu on my new the box pvr. I have tried MENU/SYSTEM SETUP/PARENTAL CONTROL/ then pressed i and then 2007 but no cas menu appears. I really don't think I'm doing it wrong. Has something changed? Any assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for info,
I have now read ALL of the thread you suggested and I am in exactly the same situation as barking. I use a mac, so the RS232 null cable thing is completely out of the question to update F/W at home. I can get a laptop from work but none of them have serial ports. I would have tried the USB converter option myself. I have tried EXACTLY what you have suggested with every possible variation of timing (and remote positioning) imaginable but there is still no cas menu? Is it possible that something has changed in the box pvr set-up?
Thanks again for your patience. (PS I'm in Dublin as well)

    Hi
First, VERY VERY important question to answer me before going anywhere, What firmware do you have installed in your PVR, look back in my post to find out how to find out this information. You won't ever find this menu if you have the wrong FTA (Free To Air) firmware installed

All the better :) Whats your thoughts on the new single tuner SV4 and the fact that the Box/Starview PVR has been discontinued. Wouldnt say you are happy.

    Hi
Well not to happy about the S/V Pvr being discontinued, but i've not been studying all the new stuff being released either. Will have to get updated, might be selling my PVR then before the news gets too widely spread.

No I would hold onto it as its a dual tuner versus the SV4 single tuner. I have one but waiting on my HDD to give it the full trial run ;)

    Hi jb,
Sorry for not getting back to you last night, busy and knackered.
System Info: The Box PVR, Twin Tuner, Ver 3.104, 18 Mar 2008
Still trying to work out my best option for updating this, but will I be able to get it working on this F/W?
Thanks again for your patience. We must drive you nuts sometimes...

    Hi
It is a current but only a Beta F/W
As you are having so much difficulty in accressing the Cas menu you will have the change the Firmware in the PVR to v4.506 Oct. I won't recommend using a USB to serial com port adaptor as these have been a pain in the a*se for many people. The only (for sure) method is to use a Null Modem Cable and a 9 pin Com port from a desktop PC or a Laptop (Not USB PORT) with Win XP installed, not Vista.

    No worries man,
I'll have to get that sorted then. I'm off to Spain for a week tomorrow, but I'll let you know how I get on once I've updated the F/W. Thanks for all your help.
