The Box SV 2 problem

Hi can anybody help please I have The Box which with Api.version 4.50ee on it just goes to " THE BOX " on the screen and no further.I have then flashed it with PVR.V4506e from files and fixes on another site and the four front panel lights just continously flash in sequence.Has anyone overcome the frozen BOX screen please.

 

It's not pvr. get 4.54 from my link below and try that.

 

4.50 for Ireland
4.51 for uk
re flash it with the appropiate firmw@re for your country.

Hi thank you for the help have flashed with 4.54 and still freezes on " THE BOX" logo.Where can I get 4.51 to try?

Me again I have now flashed it with 4.51 and it still freezes on the logo.Is there anything else I can try?

 

Are you sure its called "The Box" and is not just a Starview 1? What does it say on the front?

BTW if it is the Box you still have to use the bad flash method as you downloaded the wrong firmware onto it and you may have to persist for a while.

 

It sounds like starview 1 to me. you need core 2.57 for clones and 4.00 for genuine.

 

The case has THe Box logo on it and are you saying that I should continue to flash it with say 4.54 until the problem goes?

 

No I said if it did say "The Box" flash with either 4.51 or 4.54 whatever you what, sounds like you are in the UK. But I did say use the "Bad Flash method" link I gave you and be persistent as it doesn't always work first time and you may have to do it numerous times.

 

Hi took the cover off and the MB says Starview rev.1

 

It doesnt matter what it says on the MOBO as they both are the same for SV1 and the box basic internals are the same, different TSOPs. I have to leave so best of luck, sure you will get up and running with the bad flash method.

 

When I use the bad flash method with either 4.51,4.52 or 4.54 with GT rom loader 4.0 the download goes ok,flashes the rom then freezes everytime on the Box logo.When I flash with the updated GT rom 4.01 using the same bin files the four lights continually flash with no picture.Can I try flashing with the Starview 400 bin?

 

Use Gtrom version 4.00 and firmware 4.51 and as said it may take a bit but keep trying the bad flash method. After that all I can say is Jtag it and erase/rewrite the TSOP and flash again.

You can get a complete kit with all you need from here http://www.tailor-madecircuits.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=23&products_id=31 just make sure you tell them its for "The Box", as TSOP may differ. £15 plus P&P you could make one yourself but this is less hassle and they always work.

Before you go down that line open up the box and make sure all the ribbon cables are firmly pushed down into their respective IDE slots and try flash again. I have seen this help in one or two of these problems.
