got one of these for a mate and gonna set it up for him. do i need to input the keys manually or does AU work with this box? also will automatic scan find all chor^S channels and do i need to turn emu every time the box is rebooted? as when i turned the emu on and rebooted the box the emu was off.

cheers for reply. it is for mmds alright. so if i give one to a mate he just needs to turn on emu and scan channels. the AU will be handy as he will not be annoying me when the keys change lol. is there any need to use default key in emu options?

No but you need to make sure it is flashed with the latest firmware before you give it to him.

have box flashed alright with correct software. i cannot scan channels as i have no mmds so my system settings cannot be saved atm. will the main language screen appear every time i start the box until the box has a successful scan?

Yep as its the same set up as The Box C, so you have to go through the installation process, but as you said you need to be hooked up to his MMDS setup first.

cheers sc0user. i am a bit new to this reciever but am well used to using my dreambox 500s, 7000s and 600c. i got an envision 500c also but am not sure yet was it a good buy. channels lose signal sometimes but that could be down to my signal. the signal form the loopthrough on the envision is terrible so does not look like its a great tuner.

Yep its not a bad box but it is a clone and has been noted for a dodgy tuner, have you tried it with a booster.

tried a booster but not sure if it makes any difference. the problem is that my analogue signal is not great so i am probably boosting noise in the signal. i actually got a SLX 4 port variable gain booster from B&Q for 1.55 as they seem to be phasing that make out. it was 40 euro a week earlier

Well as you say what can you do with a bad line, have you got a subbed box, if so you could call UPC and ask them to verify your signal strength although enough said about making your other box scarce when they call :)

they had a look at the signal a few weeks ago and said there was water somewhere on the line possibly. asked him to drop a new line into the house but he would not. i would nearly run a new cable myself but i wonder would you gain much signal as its a short run from facia to the tv.

TBH honest I wouldnt mess around with providers lines, (although I know you are doing it with good intentions), they do have a thing about this. BTW I cannot understand why they dont fix your feed when they are aware of a problem on it :(
