I have just purchased a new genuine box T, I live in a mmds area.
The problem I have is the instructions given with the box T (cablebox.4shared.com) appear not to work. I have tried many times to download the software but to no avail.
Could someone please put me in the right direction.
I am a complete novice, in summary I click onto cablebox.4shared.com then as instructed go to the box T then click on the v5.03_051005 i run this, then a page comes up with a bin file box menu I click on to this (on the instruction sheet given with the box T it says I should double click the stairview software file the bin file I downloaded I can not find this) when I press download it says no file going crazy can someone please help me

Riteo here we go. I called chorus in to fit mmds in my house yesterday but the engineer said the signal was too low...ie i was able to pick up a signal of strength 58 dbm from the local transmitter where as i need a 70 dbm minimum so he left without fitting it. Im just wondering if there is an all in one set that i can purchase on satandcable.com (like i have seen on some other posts) that will pick up a good signal and give me a clear picture. I live in cloyne co.cork and I have my 'box-t' ready to go and everything

You could try a high gain aerial but how far are you from the nearest transmitter?

About 17 miles but line of sight might be compromised. Is line of sight important

It is in regards to mulipath issues, how compromised are we taking. Sound like Near Line Of Sight, (NLOS), by your DB readings.

Trees and a few hills I imagine are causing the obstuction. Thats why i am wondering would the kits available on satandcable which have 37db capabilities with downconvertor and power supply unit included be better than what the ch!!rus engineer was putting on my chimney (maybe better quality)

The gain would be better but word of warning the high gain antennae is quite big in comparison. But even then if you have LOS issues you will still have problems, unless you can alleviate them to some extent by going higher. Is MMDS your only option of course you have Sly but there are Sat alternatives.

Just cancelled my sly subscription....robbing feckers just put up their proces again and i am sick of them taking my money. Sly is not hacked so as far as i am aware too besides a card share so i am gonna try with ch''rus. But this 58/59 dbm signal im getting was a real kick in the nuts when i need 70 min to fit mmds officially. So i mite take a risk and fit it personally....would you think the one on the link below is the best to get.

I have seen some on maplin too that say they are good for low signal areas but have no downconvertor etc

If you want to take the risk by all means do. Although to be honest they dont usually send out an engineer unless you have quite a decent chance of receiving a signal so you may get lucky.

The Satandcable antennae is probably the best route to take. Although they tend to look a bit conspicuous in relation to Ch**us MMDS antennae. You do also know that you may only receive roughly 85 to 90 channels and not as near the quality as Sly.

Don't get too boged down on signal strength. I have installed the Box T on a signal of 50/52dbuV and it works fine. The main issue is with multi-path and how the receiver and the guard interval can handle it. I am receiving an MMDS signal outside Athlone at present from the Keeper Hill transmitter which must be about 50 miles LOS.
This transmitter is not designed to serve this part of the country but you dont see me complaining.
You need the 19db or 23db gain aerial and down converter from stelladoradus. Have someone check the signal MER and add additional height if required.

Press menu, type 1570 on remote and turn it on. Go to Sly Sports and let it update.
