A standard DVB-C box will do for you. The Box T as you said is for MMDS, (aerial on your roof), you have cable so "The Box" is fine.

In Dublin - My starv**w box is dead! Not sure what to replace it with. Have been offered an actual N*L box with a chip of some sort in it which I'm told is the bees knees! Or is there a better option does anyone know?

Whats wrong with your SV? Regards chipping proprietry boxes I wouldnt go down that line. BTW the box gets glitched not chipped as such.

Know nothing about them really just but stview won't accept any change of codes - that is you can put the codes in but it won't let you ok/store them. When you try it switches itself off.

Have you tried to press the default key and then input the codes. When you say it switches itself off do you mean it goes into standby?

It literally knocks itself off and comes back on.
Once I go into Nagravision and enter the codes it won't accept them. Tried going back to factory settings etc - it found all the channels and won't let me ok/store it there either.

You will need to know if you have a clone or genuine

Please click the SV EV Info link at the end of my post to compare clone V genuine boxes.

You will need a null modem cable DB9F to DB9F.

    Null modem info

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=L71BT&DOY=2m6

If your pc does not have a serial port you will need a USB to serial port adapter to use in conjunction with the null modem cable.

    USB Adapter info

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Modu...erial Adaptor

These two cable links are only for reference as they can be purchased alot cheaper on fleabay.

All firmware/loader can be found in the link at the end of my post marked Eamos FTA Library.

You will need the GTromloader V4, (Starvi*w Software Uploader), found in the Starvi*w software folder of the link.

You will need version 4.00 firmware for GENUINES found in "Starvi*w" firmware folder.
You will need version 2.57_FIXED firmware for CLONES found in "Starvi*w" firmware folder.

    Updating Firmware

Connect your box and PC with a Null modem cable and switch on the cable box and put it on STANDBY.
(The Starview does not need to be connected to TV to update it with GTROM)

Open GTROM Loader software make sure that you set the correct COM PORT
that matches the one that is being used

Make sure App file only is selected, then click Bin File & browse to the firmware where you downloaded it to on your PC.

Run the GTROM loader by pressing Download and you will see the % progress increase
then Download completed message on your PC.
Wait until you see the DOWNLOAD COMPLETE pop up on your PC before
removing the NULL MODEM CABLE. The Starvi*w will then reboot

Turn off and turn back on , then plug your tv cable and scart back in

Its quite easy :) Dont know until you try, if after a reflash you are still having problems, it may be a faulty capacitor, but that too is quite easy to fix.
