I tried to back up a copy of my new DVD the break up i use dvd shrink and when it came up i couldn't even find the main movie. Is this because the movie is too NEW? I am not using dvdfab yet either... i have used it in the past.

What is easier to use ripit4me, or DVD shrink.

    I use nero6 as well.

    Hi jigdish
Well Shrink is easier but it won't handle this one by it's lonesome. It has Macrovision's Ripguard and the rest of the junk they put on it.

So not free but you can run AnyDVD in the background w/ Shrink to remove the copy protection.

Or use free tools like RipIt4Me. Here's a guide w/ links to download:
    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/360110

Or rip another free you mentioned DVDFab Decrypter. Rip to your hard drive then open those files in Shrink.

You'll need one of the above to handle the newer copy protections since Shrink is no longer updated.

I am very new at burning DVD's. I was familiar with DVD shrink, and tried to burn Monster House, An American Haunting, and The Break-up. I looked on this forum, after DVD shrink did not work on any of them, and I tried on posting referring to using AnyDVD. I downloaded it, let it run in the background (as you guys said), opened DVD shrink, and copied all of the DVD on the first try. They all worked perfectly. Thanks for the help, thank goodness it was easy, as I am pretty "challenged" when it comes to the "techy" stuff.

DVDFab Decrypter will breeze through The Breakup...especially if ripping in movie only mode, this will eliminate the VobBlanker step as well and you may be able to burn directly to disc with some titles as no compression will be necessary. Here is a Fab guide.

A couple of questions on this.

What are you losing if you only rip the break up in movie mode with FAB? I downloaded the latest copy, but upon using it and trying to decrypt the whole thing, it failed.

Since that didn't work, I used Ripit4me. It worked for decrypting, but Shrink would not recognize it. Due to size limitations on my computer, I cannot hold the decrypted files and run VOB as well (and VOB will not let you put your output on another computer on the network).

So I am getting stuck, with this and Click. I guess my main question is what do you lose by using just movie mode on FAB?

    Hi dg1976
Doing movie only is just that - movie only. You lose the menus, special features etc.
But by doing movie only you save on compression - sometimes big time. Some discs like the these 2 have a lot of special features and adverts.

You can also remove the unwanted foreigns audios too.

What kind of size restrictions? If you rip movie only you may end up with a file between 4 and 5 gigs...if the file is over 4.4 gigs you will need an additional 4.4 gigs for the encoding. If you rip the entire disc...menus, special features and all, you will more than likely wind up with a file around 8 gigs and will need an additional 4.4 gigs of space for encoding.

i was out of the country for a few weeks... i downloaded DVDFab... what a nifty little tool... Questions:

I pull up dvd fab and select main movie... it does its thing and then I pull up shrink... on a few of my DVD's shrink doen't need to shrink it any further DVD FAB did it for me already... then i let nero do it's thing after shrink is done doing it's thing....

Am i doing everything ok? it seems to easy... and usually when it sounds to easy it usually it is...

    - it is indeed that easy..I use DVD Shrink primarily, and DVDFab Decrypter (followed by Shrink) for any movies Shrink can't handle, then burn with Nero 6.6

@born2ride - just use DVDFab Decrypter followed by Shrink; see if that works..
