I'm looking for a new video card but i'm not looking to spend to much. I see the nvidia 7600 gs but there are several different different types when I look on newegg.com or tigerdirect.com. What is the difference between these cards. Is this card and good for gaming?
The differences are memory and core clock speeds and amount of memory on the card. And you need to be more specific what kinda of games, and yes its a decent card for gaming.
I'm looking to play bf2, oblivon cs source. When looking for a video card what should I look at to see which cards are better then other ones?
Well the memory clock speed is how fast that card will be. The 7600 is the processing unit. So yes thats a good one for gaming. Just lock for a good memory clock. And no less than 256mb. Also look for pipelines. 8 is the minimum. 12 is a good number!
Would it better to get a 512 mb cards thats not as goos or a 256 mb card thats better meaning memory clock speed wise.

Would it better to get a 7600 gt 256mb or a ati x1600 512 mb for gaming? There both around the same price 140$.
Well the Gs is for AGp and the 7600gt if for PCi express. I have the 7600gt on an old hp and it plats oblivion beautifully. Used to lag on a 15 inch but not on a 19". I would say the 7600gt if applicable since the competetor of the 7600gt is the x1800gto.
u need to be alittle more specific when it comes to price, but i'd recommend a ATI radeon X1800 gto based card both i listed are about 200 to 250$ http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2155013&CatId=0 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2219310&Tab=2&NoMapp=0 i'd normally recommend going with an nvidia based card but ATI's generally work better in single card systems
