I thought this was cool so I thought I'd share it with ad.

The gameboy light was the first gameboy to feature a backlight screen, but it was only sold in japan.

Now I've discovered the gamegirl!!!! It was a huge flop in japan so it never came to the u.s.! I found only a few things on it.

can someone help me find a picture of it?

I have heard of the GameGirl, infact there are two, one was a prototype idea of Nintendo's which obviously they axed as you can see from this press release from Total Magazine I dug off the net (It was just a standard Gameboy painted pink and labled GameGirl instead of Gameboy), the other was a Portable Nintendo some hardware hacker built, the Portable Nes was spelled GameGrrl though
http://www.ladyada.net/make/gamegrrl/index.html - Link to the Game Grrl.

As a foot note it was also a entry in a Nintendo Power contest years ago to redesign the Gameboy.

BTW there is no official picture of the Nintendo GameGirl that is known to exisist because it supposedly never got beyond the planning stages at Nintendo, that does not mean there is not a mock up out there somewhere, if there is it is unknown to collectors.

    Game for a lass
Amongst the TOTAL! spy network, rumour has it (and it is only rumour you understand) that a new version of the massively successful cute-yet-def Game Boy is to be launched.

Called the Game Girl, the machine will have only one major difference from the version that is already conquering the pockets of game freaks across the planet - it will be pink.

Aside from this change - which is meant to be appeal to girlies because everyone knows girls like pink (oh yeah?) - how the games play will be exactly the same. It's hoped that this change of style won't mean that we'll soon be seeing softy titles like Terminator 3: Pillow Fight, My Little Pony Wars, Low Hem-Line Man and Skate Or Stay In.

I know about it. Its pretty old and was only available in Japan. It was basicly a game boy with a green backlight.
