    Hello all,

I know this has been posted before but so far I've found no explanation on why it's still happening when I extract this game.

Fully extracted, layers 0 and 1, I am STILL only getting 7.93 gb and that's with 16 files. I extract layer 0 and get 3.96 gb then extract layer 1 with part2.pak and put it in the same folder as the one I extracted the other 15 files and after 7 tries, checking several settings, nothing changes. It's ALWAYS 7.93 gb fully extracted. Every extraction has been with DVD Decrypter and the ISO is as stated in previous posts at 7.93 gb.

Unless I'm missing something so obvious I'd surely shoot myself in the head for, is there ANYONE who's encountered this and conquered it???

Jizmak: great job on the tutorial. Just wish my numbers would match up to yours. lol

Feel free to PM me if necessary. I'm always here till late.

PS: I burned a copy of what I had when all was said and done but the game crashes on the cinema after the one saving the oracle. NTSC version. Thanx.

You should be fine with 7.93gb,
Asd long as you have done ALL these steps.

First you make the .iso with DVD Decrypter 7.93gb.
    make new folder gowbuild
    run apache 2
    extra layer 0 to gowbuild
    extra layer 1 to gowbuild.
The gowbuild should contain the 16 files 7.97gb
(the files will have been extracted NOT IN .ISO form)

I didnt see you mention apache2,
if you did all the steps above everythinh should be fine,
The 4 meg difference most likely is a folder difference.

Thanx Jizmak for replying. The files were ripped with Apache 2. I was just having difficulty dealing with the 4 gig difference in file sizes when you were adamant about it being 7.97. Couldn't for the life of me figure out why there was a difference. Even crunched the numbers of the file sizes to be sure there wasn't a miscalculation somewhere. lol

Anyway, I'll have another go of it and see if the next backup does the same thing in the same place or not. Will let you know.

    Thanx again for the help.

    thanks evenflow

anyways i had to go back to this tutorial and use cdvdgen to create that folder with the files gow00 gow01...etc

and then using apache the ISO was built correctly and I burned it and it worked

ofcours I went through a lot to do this because most of the software needed extra files to the system folder

since I'm a begginer too it was very difficult but luckily I was persistent enough

thank you SONIX and the rest of you guys who helped others

The 16 files I had totaled 7.93 GB too.

I followed every step in Sonix's tutorial and got the game working. But the game keeps freezing up at a certain point where you're supposed to turn this huge lever.

This is after you get past the swimming part where you have to keep dodging moving walls underwater or else it will drive you straight into an underwater fence.

    All that work for nothing.

Ok, so far so good. I'm in Hades.....er, well I bet that's the first time that's ever been said. lol

Anyway, I did get the long load time at the 1 necklas coming out of the tunnel right before putting it on the device where it goes. Other than that, the only other probs are with the music. Keeps stuttering and restarting the tracks. No worries though, I don't pay attention to the music unless it's like the music played in POP2 or DMC3.

Although, on this burn I did notice somehow the final ISO was larger than the previous attempt. Not sure what happened there but I'm not complaining.

**@ ugodzero: I burned the image with the same file size; 7.93 gig. I have a PS2 slim using Swap Magic 3.3 FYI. Don't know what you're using but maybe that info will help.

    Thanx again Jizmak. 8-D

I am having a huge problem with apache 2. It is my first time using, I cannot seem to find a way to extract both layers. please advise. I already used dvd decrptor and got the 7.93gb. I also have made the folder gowbuild. just stuck on how exactly I extract both layers.

    PLease halp

    Much appreciated.

I followed the tutorial and successfully burned gow. However the iso i burned was like 600 something megabites. The game works but I dont want to play through and find out that the game is incomplete or something. Is the iso size supposed to be that small after u build it in apache?

k scratch that the 600 something megabite burned gow froze after the 3 hydra battle. Then i put all the gow.001 etc files in a seperate folder with the .ims iml files.Burned a new one and got 3.47 gig iso. It plays but hopefully it will go to the end.

Same here. I rented the game and ripped it and I've still got the original ISO on my HD. I attempted to make a back up copy twice and failed both times. I followed the tuttorial completely and still the game freezes up at a certain point.

Another thing, at the part in Sonix's tutorial where he says that I should have four files gow.000, gow.001, gow.002, and gow.003, I've only
    gotten gow.000 and gow.001.

Again, the total file size for all 16 files is 7.93 GB.

    What's the problem?

And has anybody actually gotten gow.000, gow.001, gow.002, and gow.003???

After cutting out every single .psw and .pss file I was left with an ISO of 2 GB...

Perhaps we're not supposed to cut out all of the pss and psw files?

That would probably explain why the game freezes up at certain points like the fmv is missing.

What size is your new ISO? Mine was just about 2GB after cutting out every pss and psw file...

It booted too, but froze up later.

oh my god, this thread is still going ;) if you want to make a backup of GOW get a dvdrw+dl & make a backup - if you don't have a matrix or a dms just patch it with the toxic thing ;-)
