You make the IML from your PAL original disk in CDVDGEN, you dont call it the same name as the US version, just copy the name that is on the original disksuch as you quoted. Also cant remember if my app stopped or not, but eiether way the process completed and the image was created okay. Look in the output folder and see if the output was completed even if the software did not stop afterwards.

Just finished downloading cdvdgen, will try what you mentioned.

With regards to the IML-2-DVD output folder, the new ISO file is there put as long a the IML-2-DVD program is running, the file keeps growing. Its weird, goes over 6gigs.

 

Guys, I have just discovered that the ISO that Decrypter creates is neither 7.97 or 7.93 nor 7.46 GB as mentioned in this forum.

It this a problem?

What can I do to ensure that DVD Decrypter is working correctly??

I have also tried making ISO's for GOW using Nero and Alcohol none of the sizes match the above.

Any ideas???

 

Mine did not match what was listed either. I just ignored it and carried on, all was okay. If you just use the guide at the very beginning and follow all the steps allowing for the odd change such as file size and name of image, you won't go wrong. Run Apache 2 on the output from Decrypter and save all the files together in extracted form not ISO. You may have to adjust the tools tab from layer 1 to 2 to get all the files including the pak2 file. Then just run the GOW tool on this folder and select the toc file and wait. I then used DOS command line to delete the required files del *.psw and del bonus??.pss and that will clear all the files (obvioulsy you will need to be in the correct directory. i.e. start / run> cmd <cr> then at command do a CD (Change Directory)through the files to where the folder is with the extracted files. Spend quite some time afterwards doing all the relinking, this after running the auto relink function in the tool. I think that most files had the corresponding files to relink to available, just click on the one in the left window and the correct one in the right window and go through them all. Then just get rid of the original toc and pak files and rename the newly created ones. The CDVDGEN part is where you'll need to use the same name as that on your original disc not what was mentioned in other posts. After this, there are only a couple more bits to go and your there. Lastly good luck with it, I am now at Poseidons Challenge (Great Game!)

It seemed to work after I used cdvdgen to create the IML file as you suggested, but the quality of the videos suck compared to the original. I am going to try it again and select PAL instead of NTSC in TmpegEnc.

 

All the video on my backup is as good as original and I have all the bonus footage as well. Using TY disks to backup to burning with Decrypter at 2 speed. On holiday now so good luck with it!!!

is there a way to change it to DVD5, from the Hard drive?

Hey everyone.

I burned a copy of GoW way back and only recently I found that it froze at Pandora's temple when I was about to enter. After reading a lot of posts here I see someone mentioned they burned the game onto a regular DVD9 (which is what I want to do) using some Toxic patch. I found that patch and was reading the instructions. It says something about this patch being able to let your PS2 play DVD9s with modded PS2s but it says nothing about the Swap Magic disc.

I Have SM3.3 with slide card and I was wondering if anyone can confirm that applying the toxic patch to GoW will make it work with the SW3.3 disc. I saw some people on here say they've burned the DVD9 and it worked, but have you people played the game all the way through? Does it freeze anywhere?

If this patch will allow me to play a DVD9 with the SM3.3 I will burn it this way. If this doesn't work I will just buy it. Thanks

 

tried to do sonix method but i get one error message even after downloading the dll file.using cdvdgen 1.50.

the toxic patch only works for certain chips not Swap Magic 3.3. i just recently copied this game and it plays flawless. Did u follow instructions on page 1 with all the updated tools? my game has been played all the way through with the metod on page 1.

 

I forget the way I copied my copy. I used a tutorial here that was from way back. It wasn't this one. I recently downloaded a copy where it was claimed to have been fixed. I found that this new copy does get past the entrance to Pandora's temple but the movies have all been downsampled so that he could fit the bonus content on it as well. Now what happened is that the audio is all out of sync in the cutscenes. I was watching the Making Of vidoe and the sound was off by 3-5 seconds.

Ah well. I have stopped playing this game for now and I plan on buying it when I can find it for a good price. Probably just pick it up used somewhere. I can't stand making a non-perfect copy of a game! That's why I wantde to used a DVD9 but I just don't understand how the modchip differs from the swapdisc in that the patch only works with certain chips.

 

Just completed GOW on my backed up copy, only had a bit of a stutter on one cut scene and a 2 mins or so loading time during a transition in cliffs of madness... no other faults whatsoever. Thanks again Jizmak for letting me know what bonus files I could delete...after that pretty straight forward to copy.

i used the sonix method to back up my game and had the same problem as user CAL2394, mine is a pal sces_531.33 instead of the ntsc 973.99.
webhedreg told CAL2394 to change the iml with cdvdgen but i can't find where to download this program
any help would be greatly appreciated

because u cant flash swap magic disk. its basically put on a disk and the mod chip reads the disk and changes the way the ps2 reads a dvd9. u cant do that with just a disk. i think the ppl who made the toxic patch r the makers of the mod chip. not sure so plz dont scream at me ppl.
