ok i have modded my xbox and ps2 and didnt really want to install a chip on the gamecube,i found that like the ps2 you can use a bootdisc, along with a saved hack on the memory card to play GC Back-ups Great......but here are my questions.

1.What are the advantages of Chipping instead of using the bootdisc?

2.Is streaming the Game using the network adapter just as good?

3.Are there Any games that domnt work using the maxdrive pro?

    thanks everybody for there time.....

I'll try to answer your questions.

    1. (This is what brucedlx said in his tutorial thread... I haven't used a chipped GC so I cannot give an opinion on it)

    Advantages of Softmod w/ MDPro:

    - No need to open the GC, void the warranty
    - No need to learn how to use a soldering iron
    - Can run any .dol file (basically any bios, emulator) perfectly well
    - Doubles as a massive memory card on which you can save all your games
    - Much easier to set up

    Cons of Softmod w/ MDPro:

    - Having to swap discs instead of straight boot
    - Takes some time to load if you put new files from your comp on it
    - Only one place to buy it online, and the shipping is hit or miss, can take anywhere from 1 week to 3 months in some cases I've heard

    2. I've never tried streaming games, but I've read where a whole lot of games lag/not play at full speed.

    3. From my experience and from what I've read, there aren't any. I do remember reading where a few people had a hard time playing a certain game... cannot remember which, but it was discussed in this thread: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/292668.

I also have a PS2 modded using the swap discs, and in my opinion the GC is a lot easier to use and works better than it. You don't have to alter any of the games to make them work.

    Hope that all helps!

other disadvantages of softmod with MDPro.

Max drive pro is a piece of junk product, alot of people have all kinds of problems with it not working and also the company not sending them the dvd that should come with it. The company you buy it from is codejunkies, a corrupt company based in the UK that will sell your credit card info and try their hardest to rip you off in other ways. I suggest everyone to pass on this.

Go with a XENO GC, only 20 bucks and super easy to install. Much better in my opinion and in the opinion of many others that have struggled with codejunkies and the md pro
