The quickest way to putting numerous music vids on dvd?

    Hya all,

I don't quite know the best way of doing this - I need to put numerous three-four minute music videos onto one dvd! I usually convert them first using VSOdivx to dvd and then burn them using roxio media creator or author them using TMPG enc, etc.

Now, should I group them all through TMPG enc first and will that convert before burning or can I do something to group them together first and then run them all through VSOdivx to dvd as a group, rather than individually??? Hope this makes any sense to everyone!!!!! Any advice would be most appreciated!

    Thanks in advance

nice thread. i'm pondering doing this as i have 100 odd CD's packed with music vids. I was originally gonna just make data dvd's with as many as would fit on each DVD, then i could use Winamp and drag/drop the dvd onto winamp and it would play for hours on shuffle or something. I thought it would be better to do that so the file sizes don't balloon thus requiring more DVDs instead of less

    Hi creak and 1banshee1,

This thread reminded me I had a lot of music vids on a CD I'd promised to turn into a DVD for a mate.

This is what I did, I put the CD into the ROM, chose the Take no action option.
Opened up VSO dvx to dvd, accessed the ROM and converted the lot in one go.
Burnt it with Shrink/nero, it's playing in the background now, no apparent problems.

doh!, i've already got it installed. I know what it was, i installed it last week or week before to convert a troublesome AVI to DVD (Iron Maiden - Raising Hell - for some reason WinAvi Video converter didn't like the AVI so i came across VSOdivx to dvd)

    my memory!

naw. it's not working - there's green squares (ie corruption) in the videos (all i've done so far is convert a few on the hard drive, not written to a DVD yet). So i'll scratch this idea and just make data DVDs i think, that way at least i would only have 20 DVDs to faff with instead of 100 odd CDs.

It was worth a try though.

Bad luck creaky, I just been playing about with DVDSanta, that accessed the ROM, but I had to insert the titles one at a time, easy enough 'tho

It started the conversions with any problems, I'll give it a full go later with a RW disc, if it comes out alright I'll let you know.

    Hya Creaky and Gringle,

The music vids I have have been downloaded from a p2p network and are sat in My Downloads file!!! If you could share any knowledge on what should be my next step, ie, convert first, author and then burn or author first to "group" them, before converting and then burning. I don't even know if I can group them whilst authoring before converting or not. 'Tis perturbing me no end!!!

Hope to hear from you soon.

all i did was run VSOdivx to dvd, select the input folder where all the vids were, select all and click on convert

I had all mine already on a CD, all I did was put it in the ROM access the ROM with VSO dvxtodvd highlight all the contents and convert..However and this is most perplexing, since I've been playing with DVDSanta, I can't do this with VSO any more???

I can however do it with DVDsanta 'free demo' version, I think these thing have got a life of their own lol

    Hya again,

I tried doing what Creaky did but the programme kicks up, makes a few noises as though it is trying to convert but then switches to idle mode and does nothing else. I don't think its going to do it for me. I'll try it again, for the third time, but if not ...... any ideas? Do you think I should put all folder into TMPGenc and then try converting them using VSOdivx to dvd or is this a no no!

Thanks for the help so far guys,

its relatively easy, just make sure all the files you download are avi/divx/xvid etc.Batch encode them with vso divx to dvd.If after you have got them converted and want to add menus use tmpgenc dvd author. But if you arent concerned about menus and just want the whole thing to play in a hit use recode. You get a completed project either way.I prefer nero recode as i can merge all the files together where as with tmpgenc dvd author there is a slight gap if you know what to look for.

    Hya andmerr,

I should have known better!!! All the files are MPG or MPEG!!!!! This poses my next question - what should I do with these little buddies now??? Most of the other DVDs I have done have started off from a downloaded AVI file!!! AAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!

vso divx to dvd can convert your mpeg 1 and 2 files to a dvd movie format as well.iT Will make all your files uniform and then you will be able to use nero or tmpgenc + nero to do the burning.

Try it and let me know how it goes

    later

at the risk of going off topic (my second nature, sorry) - just played Drowning Pool - Tear Away, awesome.

Diving back on topic, all the files i have are already codec'd up fine. It's just a shame that VSO pixellated 'em

Hi creaky DVDsanta converted those AVI PMEG files fine but, at much slower speed than VSO, 15 music vids took up 60% of the DVD.
I used nero to burn them, no probs.

    It maybe worth trying it?

After that I removed santa, re-installed VSO, and things are back to normal.

cor you're psychic. i'm sat here with my 100tub of music vids going thru looking thru 'em for Faith no more, 'Live' etc. (I'm in a very 'rock' type of mood, sat here with my lager). Got the doors of the boat open as it's real warm now, i'm playing stuff quite loud, it's great!. Anyway ahev you heard of the group 'Live', they got some awesome tracks, have been into 'em for years. Plus Drowning Pool, Papa Roach, System of a Down, Evanescence, linkin park but to name a few of my many, many favourite music.

Anyway i've wandered off topic as per usual :)
i think what i'm gonna do is start dumping the better vids on hard drive and make some data dvd compilations. That way i'll probably only have about 10 dvds with my fave vids on to shuffle thru winamp. But saying that it would be better (but more expensive) to just buy a bigger 2nd hard drive for purely this purpose and chuck it in my spare USB enclosure. If the hard disc pops i still got just one tub of cd's to redo from, instead of moving 'em all to DVD and then shuffling DVDs all the time.

I'm dithering (the snakebites are kicking in!). i'll have to go thru the CDs, transfer the best stuff to DATA dvd's, then still buy a huge hard drive for them, then if that pops i only have to copy/paste from the 10 or so dvds instead of redoing the whole process with the 100 plus cd's.

god i don't half always overexplain things, why can't i use a few words instead of a bible!
