My burner has always worked but I hadn't used it in like a month

Now that I am trying to use it when I burn a dvd using DVDshrink and imburn or dvddecrypt to burn, I keep getting this error.

the semaphore timeout period has expired

From what I've gathered, it is a loss of connection between my external Sony DVD-RW DRU-700A and my computer.

I've tried to fix it using ForceASPI, reinstalling driver, and even using another computer but same problem.

So is the burner broken or I missing something?

    Thanks

Have you tried a different USB port or a different cable on this old burner?

Yes, 3 different cables, different ports, and on 3 different computers

Sounds like you have a faulty drive.
