A while ago I downloaded a copy of the sims 2 university and installed it. i deleted it because it didnt work and because i finally got my butt of the computer and bought a real copy. I uninstalled the sims 2 and now when i try to re-install it, it asks me for the serial then when it comes to the window where it asks where it should be installed, it has the "the sims" logo from the downloaded copy of the game (i know its it because at the top it says by: the person who copied it). I deleted limewire and the file and all of my temp files and everything relating to the sims and it still wont go away. (after i install the sims 2 and try to play the windows "send error report" window opens). I went to another forum and they told me to delete it off of my registry (the sims 2) and I did. I still have the SAME problem. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I mean it seems you've deleted everything from the hdd even the registry that has to do with this game. There should be no problem with installing the real copy. The serial number should be on the product somewhere perhaps the cd case or back of the box. You can try an app called ccleaner(freeware)that will further delete anything.By the way the reason your hacked copy didn't work is because you needed a crack. Either way even if ccleaner doesn't work it will help speed up your pc by deleting unwanted entries. So give it a try you have nothing to lose.
Wow..it actually worked..I had been working on it for two days and I was just about to give up hope. thanks a lot.
