When i turn on my computer and try to log in i get this error saying...
"The system could not log you on due to the following error: the specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted. please try again or consult your system administrator."

I tried reinstalling windows xp pro but i still get the same error.

When you first start the computer, do you get the Windows classic logon screen, or do you have an icon with a name to click on?

If you have the new XP theme which shows an icon, press ctrl+alt+del twice to get the classic logon screen. From there, make sure that you're logging in to the local computer (as opposed to a domain). You may have to click the "Advanced" button to see the domain options. You'll need to enter a valid user name and password (you should have created these when you installed XP).

Assuming you're using Windows XP Pro (XP Home won't allow you to connect to a domain), you probably checked to connect to a domain during the install process. Since the computer can't find the domain, you're getting this error.
